Chapter 7

The weeks following the kiss, Betty and jughead officially became boyfriend and girlfriend and everyone was so happy for them. College was taking a toll on Betty and she had so Much work to do. One Friday she went to the library all day to finish some assignments so she could spend the weekend doing absolutely nothing. Around 6pm she returned home, tired but couldn't wait to relax. She shut the door and turned around to put her coat on the rack. "Hey boys I'm homeeee" she giggled, when she turned around Archie, jughead and Reggie were all sitting on the sofa, looking very sympathetic. "what's going on?" She asked, confused. Suddenly the bathroom door opened and someone stepped out.
"MOM?!" Betty half yelled. "What the hell are you doing here?!". Alice took a step towards Betty while took a step towards her roommates. It hadn't been that long since her outburst with Veronica over dinner so the boys knew all about her mother. "Now is that anyway to talk to your mother Elizabeth? Anyway I'm here because you haven't been in contact with me, it's not very mature to ignore me!" She said in a very stern voice. Betty didn't say anything she just stood with her hands in fists. The boys stepped closer towards her, Jug putting a protective arm around her waist. "Get out" Betty whispered. "What?" Alice scoffed. "I said GET OUT!" Betty screamed, grabbing her mom and pushing her out the door, slamming it behind her. Betty slowly sank down the door sobbing into her hands. Her Breathing came out fast and the boys knew she was having a panic attack. "Hey hey hey" Jug said rushing to pick her up and put her on the couch. "Shh betts your okay" he whispered. "Betty can you look at me?" Archie asked crouching in front of her next to Jug. Betty had her eyes shut and shook her head. "Yes you can, betts come on look at me" Archie said, placing a hand on her knee. Reggie moved to the kitchen to make Betty a green tea because he knew that would help calm her down. "Betts?" Jug said. "Look at me come on" Archie pleaded. Betty opened her eyes to look at Archie. "That's it now can you follow my breathing?" He asked, breathing in and out. Jug moved his hand up and down her back and she slowly started to copy Archie's breathing. "That's it, breathe betts, breathe" eventually her breathing went back to normal and it just subsided to sniffles. "There you go" Archie said giving her knee a reassuring squeeze. Betty was still crying so Jug pulled her to his chest whispering words of comfort in her ear. The three Of then sat on the sofa while Reggie brought over her tea. "Thank you" she managed to get out. "No problem now come on flash me a Betty Cooper smile" Reggie asked while handing her the mug. Betty gave them a small smile in return. "That's my girl" Jug said while wiping her tears away. They spent the rest of the evening on the couch watching stupid reality tv shows that Betty loves and Sharing jokes; by the time she went to bed Betty felt so much happier.
