Where It All Begins

*Next day- leaving for school*

Me and Roger had gotten up early and we were in the hallway putting our shoes on. I had a back pack today with my letter and my phone charger. My dad came out in the hallway and looked at us.

Charlie:" Have a good day you two."

Roger nodded.

Katie:" Shut the fuck up. You disgust me."

Roger ushered me out of the door. He shut it behind us. We walked down all the way to the car. Sean Dolan had just arrived and was getting out of his car.

Sean:" Morning you two. Katie you ok?"

Katie:" Yeah thanks Sean. Are the twins at school?"

Sean:" Yes they are. Bye now."

We all nodded and me and Roger got into his car. 

*At school- first lesson- science*

I was at the back with Ethan and Grayson. We were doing an activity in three's. Well we were suppose to.

Ethan:" So what you are saying is that your dad, Charlie McCarthy killed his son and wife. And other members. And you're next."

Katie:" Yes that is exactly what I said. Now Ethan I am not in the mood for a parrot."

Ethan nodded.

Grayson:" So you want to photocopy your mom's letter to give proof so my dad will help you and Roger?"

Katie:" Yes that is where you and Ethan come in. You will have to persuade your dad."

Grayson:" Won't be that hard. Our dad hates your dad. No offence neither does any of my family."

Katie:" Trust me. neither do I. But Freya is coming today. So if my plan fucks up. Just take Freya and run away with your family and Roger."

Ethan:" Trust me. With your brains, you can even outsmart my dad. And he is the person in charge of all FBI."

Katie:" Thanks for that. That has made me more eager now."

Grayson:" So me and E will go and photocopy your mom's letters or are you and Roger doing that?"

Katie:" Me and Roger. Meet me at lunch the both of you. In the library, if you know where that is."

I stood up and everyone looked at me. The teacher spun in his chair to face me.

Mr Parks:" Yes Miss McCarthy. What is it?"

Katie:" I need to go talk to Roger."

Mr Parks:" No Miss McCarthy. You can talk to him after lesson."

The teacher spun around to face the board and had his back to Katie. I grabbed Grayson's pencil and threw it at Mr Parks. He flew round.

Mr Parks:" GET OUT NOW MISS McCARTHY. I MEAN IT GET OUT NOW!"

I grabbed my back and left. I slam the door shut behind me and Roger shoots up.

Roger:" Katie what's up?"

Katie:" Oh we need to photocopy the letter. But to that I had to throw a pencil at the teacher."

Roger:" Katie, that wasn't the right thing to do. But you are out now so lets go."

*Library - photocopying*

We had photocopied the letter 53 times. Roger asked for a folder at the librarian's desk and he got given it. We put all the letters in the folder and we put it in my bag.

Roger:" So tonight I think you should go to talk to Mrs Dolan whilst me and one of the twins talk to Mr Dolan. I will meet you at the front door later on this evening. If this goes well then we could be on to something. I will send these letters out to everyone we need on our side."

Katie:" Roger? What if we have got this all wrong and my dad isn't the killer and we have wasted all this time for nothing?"

Roger:" I have suspected it was your dad for a while. Your mom did too. Why? Are you having cold feet?"

Katie:" Part of me believes it was him. But then part of me is like he is my dad and it would be best if I just ask him."

Roger:" Katie no one is stopping you from asking him yourself. But it would be a bit suspicious all of a sudden. Look we have like five days left till if it is him then for him to kill you. If it isn't then it wouldn't be a waste of time."

Katie:" Because we would know that he is innocent."

Roger:" Exactly. Now lets send some letters now so they get them in time."

*Lunch- canteen with Ethan, Grayson and Roger*

Ethan:" Right. So who is going with who and doing what?"

Katie:" Ethan, you are with me. We are going to talk to your mom and sister. Grayson is with Roger. They are going to talk to your dad and other members of the army. Me and Ethan will meet you at my house.  That is when i ask him in private whether he did kill them or not."

Grayson:" Are you mental? He could hurt you. I am coming with you."

Katie:" No. I will take him to a separate room. It should only be me otherwise he might try and hurt you. I'm sorry Gray. But no."

Roger:" Katie? Wait to ask him. At least until I show you something that you should know about your dad. Please? It's the weekend so it will be alright."

Ethan:" Can we come too?"

Katie:" Okay Roger and yeah can they come too?"

Roger:" Sure."

*Dolan household- living room*

I explained everything to Mrs Dolan and Cameron Dolan. They listened to every word until I had finished.

Katie:" Is there anything you want to ask?"

Lisa:" So your dad killed your family members and he is after his own parents? Well it wouldn't surprise me with the man he is."

Ethan:" Yes mom. And next he is after Katie. We only have until next Thursday. So what do you say? "

Cameron:" Well I believe Katie mom. There is no doubt that he isn't a lunatic. Even that letter from Katie's mom. She suspected something. She knew she was going to die and she did."

Lisa:" Look I don't like that man but it doesn't mean he did kill his wife and son."

Ethan:" Mom. Katie's mom said that if her theories were right then she would be dead. Katie opened the letter because she had that argument yesterday with her dad. Surely if that letter doesn't convince you then what will?"

Katie:"Mrs Dolan. I fully respect your decision and I just wanted to let you know. But let me just say something. Part of me is holding me back, telling me to ask him face to face. And the other part is saying he killed your family. Give your father what he deserves. All I wish for is to have my mom and brother back. But that won't happen. So all I wish for is the person that did this to them, to be caught. I understand. You don't have to get involved. I just wanted to warn you what my dad could be. I'm sure that if I do die then Ethan and Grayson will stick to taking Freya and running away from here with you two and your husband with Roger. "
