| Chapter 3- Jace |

*Change. It could be either beautiful or ugly. It could be for the best or the worst. In this case, for the worst.*

Awkward. That's the only thing I could explain the atmosphere after Laney walked off without so much of a glance at any of us. Not even Michael who was currently rubbing the spot between his eyes. I felt sympathy for the guy. To deal with a case like Laney must've been exhausting. And the only reason he couldn't drop her was because the movie was halfway through and despite her attitude, Laney wasn't someone to easily replace. She wasn't one of the youngest fast-growing stars in Hollywood for no reason.

She started off as a double. I would know since I watched her, supported her, was there for her. A double for an action movie that required her to do stunts that the actress herself was unwilling to do. And Laney nailed it spot on. Having been watched by the director closely, word went around and she was offered auditions and small spots on certain movies and shows until she was finally offered a spot as the main lead.

It was only a year after she started off as double. I was impressed, told her so, and she jumped in my arms with tears staining her face. A face so full of innocence and excitement. A face of kindness.

But soon, she began to change. She was invited to parties, treated like the queen she became known as. Our hangouts began to dwindle. Our messaging became nonexistent. And soon enough, the Laney I knew and fell for was gone.

Change. It could either be beautiful or ugly. It could be for the best or for the worst. And in this case, it was for the worst. Laney became who she feared she'd be. She became her broken promise. She became the frightful witch she never wanted to be. And the scariest part of it? I didn't think she even knew the answer to how she became the beast.

I came out of my musings when Michael called us all to attention with a tired sigh. We managed to get quite a bit done today but we would've gotten more had Laney's witch side not come out.

"I'm afraid today we'll have to call it off short," he told us and Amelia stood up with a chin jutted in the air.

"Why? Why finish early just because Laney isn't here? Why should her presence affect what we do or don't do? There are other scenes that don't involve her. Let others have their shot," she told Michael in her prominent accent and I smiled softly.
