*It'll grow on you again.*

Asking how everything was going probably wasn't the wisest thing to say to Laney at the moment. Of course nothing was okay for her. The life she got accustomed to was ripped away from her because of a mistake. A mistake that would end her budding career.
I rubbed the back of my neck in embarrassment but a nervous chuckle left my lips as I cast my gaze downward. "Sorry. That wasn't the best thing to say," I mumbled.
"No, it wasn't," she snapped and I looked at her. Her eyes were blazing with anger and also hurt. As much as she tried to hide it, I saw the tears swirling in her hazel orbs.
"Um, do you want the wifi password?" I awkwardly asked and she closed her eyes, taking a deep breath through her nose before handing me her phone.
I went to her settings and pulled up the wifi section, waiting for our network to load. When it did, I clicked on it and put in the password quickly before connecting it to her phone. I handed it back to her and she took it before going towards the bed.
"Thank you," she grumbled and I felt a small smile decorate my lips. I knew she was in there somewhere.
"So it looks like my family redid my room," I commented as I walked in and looked around. She simply ignored me, scrolling away on her phone and I slightly frowned at her downturned mouth and furrow of her brows.
I walked up to her and snatched her phone from her hand, ignoring her outcry. I looked at what she was looking at. Twitter, Instagram, FaceBook, all that was filled with her pictures and crude language as well as self-shattering comments.
"That's it. For the next three months, you're not looking at any electronics," I told her as I powered off her phone.
"You have no right to tell me what I can or cannot do here," she ground out as she kneeled on the bed, reaching up to my height at the movement. I simply kept eye contact with her and slipped her phone in my back pocket.
"I do. I'm supposed to watch out for you and reading those things will have the opposite effects we want," I replied as she tried to reach behind me. I moved away.
"Jace, give me back my phone...now," she demanded slowly as she stood up. I looked up at her seeing as she now towered a couple inches over me.
It was kinda amusing.
No it's not, my subconscious fought back. Keep focused.
"No," I shot back ignoring how we probably looked.
"Jace," she continued with a warning in her tone. I couldn't help but swallow a little in nerves. She never sounded so threatening before. "If you don't hand me my phone this instant, I'll show you why they call me the Wicked Witch of the Set. I don't play nice or fair," she added as she slowly climbed off the bed, her eyes watching me like a predator.
