The Psychotic Life of Charlie Keynes

CHAPTER ONE

It was my first day of high school, and I’d expected all the negative things that might happen on the first day, I can see jocks beating up nerds, I’d know that the popular girls would stare at everybody from head to toe, cause they love to insult them, especially when it comes to “style” I know there’s gonna be terror teachers and I’d expect that everyone’s gonna pick on me for being too “weird”. But see, that’s life and it’s just bound to happen. Right now, I’m still in the car waiting for my brother Earl, he promised he’d drive me to school, but the thing is, he moves slower than a turtle. “Alright” someone shouted, I turned my head and saw that it was Earl at our front door, still fixing his neck tie. Though his hair looked like a mess, I quickly checked myself in the side mirror, my hair was neat and there was nothing wrong with my face yet, I looked back at Earl then I shouted “Earl, are you gonna make me late again? I told you I could just walk to school” Earl then said “No, no, no, I’m driving you to school” I promised Mom, I’d drive you once you’ll reach high school” “You’re gonna drive me to school everyday?” I asked confusingly “Yes” he answered confidently

By the time Earl said that, I knew that I was gonna be awarded “Most Tardiest Student Ever” Might as well get used to eat though. Let’s just hope that the cars gonna break down everyday, so I can just walk to school. I do have a driver’s license already but my sister Phoebe doesn’t want me to drive my car, because she’s afraid of me getting hurt. She’s been over protective over me ever since I was a little kid. Maybe it was because of the trauma I’ve occurred when I was little; see my uncle sexually harassed me. I actually didn’t know what he was doing to me; he kept on touching me in parts that are private. I told my sister about it, and she got mad at our uncle, she told our parents but they did not believe her. They accused her of lying. Since my sister is the only one who knows about that thing, she is the only one who understands me and believes me all the time. Until now, I admit, I have the fear of people touching me, I usually cover my ears, go teary eyed and start to act like child who’s toy was taken away from. I had gone to psychiatrists and other experts but none of them could cure me. See I hallucinate all the time, I always see my uncle in my mind, and remember all the bad things he did to me. Once I see that, I start to go bad again. I become bad again. I am becoming bad again.

 

 When we finally arrived at school, I immediately got out of the car, and went toward Ender. But as I approached him, I saw an unfamiliar face, there’s this girl, who is she? And wow she’s beautiful. I finally stopped in front of them and I looked at Ender “Hi Bro” he said happily “Hi” I replied back. “Gee, thanks for introducing me to your friend, Ender” said the girl by his side. “Oh yeah, Chloe this is my best friend, Charlie, Charlie this is my twin sister Chloe” said Ender. So Chloe was this girls name, wow, she’s really beautiful, her green eyes are so amazing to look at. It was like looking into an angel. Wait, what am I saying? Why do I feel butterflies in my stomach? Why does my heart beat fast and faster and faster and faster? What’s happening to me? Is this the thing they call “LOVE”? Am I already in love? CRAZY. I can’t be in love, I don’t even truly know this girl, and I can’t love someone right away in less than a minute. I don’t think that counts as love, it’s…it’s…----“Hey, are you okay, Charlie?” asked Chloe, my heart pounded so hard, that even I could hear it beating, this was the twin sister who went to boarding school in New York that Ender has been telling me “ Er…Yeah, I’m okay” I said with a grin on my face. “Don’t you think it’s time for us to head to class?” said Ender. “Oh okay Mr. Worried” said Chloe “Shut up and let’s go already” said Ender

As we entered the doors of high school, I immediately saw the things I’d expected to see, every single one of it. But all of a sudden someone bumped into me, I fell down, I looked up and saw Nina Kirk, the school’s most popular girl, I’m guessing. “Oops, Sorry Loser” said Nina, Ender helped me up, then suddenly “HEY, you’re not suppose to do that BULLY” screamed Chloe, I was in shock, and couldn’t even explain Ender’s reaction to what his sister did to Nina. “Why the hell do you care, Bitch?” said Nina “See, that’s my friend you pushed down there, what’s you’re problem bitch? Do you seriously need to do that, to get attention like this?” as Chloe said that I looked around and saw almost all of the students surrounding us “Attention seeker, you have nothing else to do in your life but bully, insult and act like a slut” said Chloe confidently, I was still shocked at what she was doing, no one ever did that for me, no one ever defended me like that, and the fact that she only knows me for me about 5 minutes, and it’s making me fall for her more. Nina looked around, everyone was staring at her, she couldn’t answer back at Chloe, wow, and Chloe hit her real good. Nina was speechless, she was trembling, and her eyes were teary already. She then looked around, and saw an open space; she ran toward that open space, she didn’t turn around or anything, she was covering her face, and everyone started clapping. They were all cheering for Chloe, and then the bell rang. Everyone then went to their respective classrooms. When we went to our room, I looked at Chloe and said “Er…Why did you do that?” “She was messing with you, and that wasn’t a right thing to do” she said to me, I was already blown away just by the way she looked at me; I did not know what to say next. It’s like I’m falling from the clouds, I was sweating, it was like I wanted to kiss her—wait, what am I saying? This is crazy. “Thanks anyway for that” I said to her “Anytime” she replied.
