Serpent Blood | Sweetpea (discontinued)

Chapter Eight

The bell has gone and I need to endure maths with Sweetpea right next to me.

I enter the class and walk to my seat noticing Sweetpea hasn't came in yet. Hopefully he won't come to this class.

Half way through the lesson I see Sweetpea enter.

"Sorry I'm late" he mumbles and sits in his seat next to me.

I look at him and then look away hoping he won't say anything to me.

I notice him looking at me but I just ignore it and try to get on with the lesson. I don't want to feed him any attention.

The bell rings as the school day ends. I still have nowhere to go, I don't want to stay with fangs again, I don't want to overstay my welcome.

I sit on the steps outside school. I sit by myself hoping I won't be noticed.

"Sophia? What are you doing?" I hear Veronica ask me.

"Sitting on the steps" I reply with my face leaning on my palm.

"You need to something? Want me to get you Archie?" Veronica asks me not sitting next to me looking at the steps in disgust.

"Nope. I'm fine"  I reply still looking at the steps. 

"You sure? You want me to stay with you?"

"No, no. I'm okay, don't worry"

"Okay, I'm always here, girl" I look up at her and smile. She rubs my back and leaves me.

She leaves me and I sit on the steps.

"Hey" I hear Sweetpea sit next to me with Toni and Jughead.

I take a long blink and don't reply.

"Are you still not talking to us?" Toni asks me but I just ignore her and don't look up at any of them.

"Do you want to talk to Archie?" I hear Jughead ask me. Again, I ignore him.

I'm guessing Sweetpea have them a look or something because they leave me and Sweetpea by ourselves.

"What do you want, Sweetpea?" I ask still not being able to up at him.

"I don't want you to be sleeping on the streets, I want you safe"

"Sweetpea, I want to be with you. I really do but how many fights are to come? How many times will you lie to me knowing I'll notice what happened?" I ask still not facing him.

"It won't happen again. I promise, princess" using 'princess' makes me want to burst into tears.

"Don't, Sweetpea. Don't call me princess when you don't treat me like one" I didn't say this being big headed. I didn't mean as I'm royalty I just meant, don't give me a nickname that isn't true.

"I do. I mean, I try to, I really try to treat you as best as I can" he begs.

"I know but you don't lie to a princess do you?"
