Chapter 7: Rosemarie
If you could feel anger as temperature, J. C would have a 209° fever. He let go of me and grabbed the phone. "Who the hell are you, you sick bastards!?" He screamed into the phone. I heard cackling. I stood by the closet door, terrified of what he'd do next. Kim and Chris came over to me, each placing a hand on my shoulder. I was shaking. In terror. In sorrow.
"Silly little boy. How could you not know who I am? I'm your little friend," he paused, dramatically, "Jade." We all gasped, glad that Jade wasn't in the room.
"Listen you little bitch! TELL ME WHO THE FUCK YOU ARE OR I SWEAR!..." he was interrupted by a little girl.
"Justin, Mama says don't curse." J. C fell to the ground. I ran to the phone.
"Mindy! Is your name Mindy?" I asked urgently. The man on the phone was yelling at the girl.
"SHUT UP YOU STUPID FOOL. YOU UGLY LITTLE GIRL. DON'T ANSWER THEM!" Mindy started to cry.
"I'm sorry Justin. I'm sorry Cameron. I'm sorry Jade. I couldn't stop him. Justin? Justin I'm sleepy. But I can't sleep. I won't sleep." The man was still yelling, but the strong girls voice carried over it. "I LOVE YOU GUYS!" The phone went dead. J. C was shaking with tremors. I dropped my body over his. Holding onto him. Not letting him go. Cameron was at the stairs. He'd been there the whole time. They were hiding. This is how he found out his sister will die.
Cameron held Jade's hand, who had her own tears falling in puddles from her eyes. They were currently purple, or the closest shade of blue to purple. The color of sorrow. We were silent, only for the noise of remorse, of surprise, of hurt could be heard. Lisa and Shane hadn't come down. I had soaked J. C's shirt with my tears. I didn't care. I wouldn't let go. I couldn't let go. I'll never let go. He's mine. I'm his. Jade's his. Jade's mine. Cameron's his. Cameron's Jade's. Cameron's mine.We our each other's. We are a family. And you can't spell family without the initials of I love you. And we do. Every person in this room loved each other. And that would never change. J. C finally stopped shaking. I sat up, wrapping a piece of hair behind my ear. Jade had stopped crying, but she now looked like a raccoon. Cameron was still sniffling, having found out the news of his sister the biggest hit he's ever felt. And he saw his mom O. D Jade hugged him. She was whispering to him, he was frowning, tears interlocking with Jade's hair. Black tears, blue tears, pink tears, orange tears, purple tears, an abundant of colorful tears as they each fell. Jade stopped hugging Cameron, and switched it for his hand. She rubbed his knuckles. (Guess that way of calming runs in the family.) Leslie was hugging Marcus, unable to hold in her remorse. It looked the same with most of us, the single ones just hugging each other. J. C sat up a little more straighter and rubbed a hand under his nose. I handed him a tissue, he cleaned his hand and finished under his nose. He threw it into the mini trash can that lay next to the table with the phone, lamp, and tissue box. He looked at the phone, frowning turning subhead slightly. He suddenly grabbed the phone and threw at the wall. It fell to the ground, unharmed. (Don't ask me how, it just was.) Rosie grabbed his arm, terrified of what he'd do next. He looked at Jade with red eyes.
"I'm... sorry. I don't know why... it just.... anger..." he couldn't say a full sentence. Jade looked at J. C and nodded, but didn't go up to him. She wasn't letting go of Cameron. Shane and Lisa had finally heard the phone slam against the wall and came down investigate.
"WHAT THE HELL JADE?! WHAT'S GOING ON!" Lisa asked ready to lunge at Jade.
"It was me! Not Jade. Sorry Lisa. Whoever called before, called again but he was with Mindy." J. C stared at the floor. Lisa now had a sad look on her face.
"Oh, I'm sorry J. C and Cameron and... Jade." She h"Now, why the hell would I know?!" Lisa replied, a small tint of nervousness in her voice.
"Because, you knew who "she" was." Jade retaliated without any hesitation. We all ohed.
"Oh shut up!" Lisa said, quickly leaving the room. Jade smirked.
"That wasn't a good answer." And followed her up the stairs.
