It made sense that Roman and Virgil clashed: the dreamer and the fear that stops it. But no one stopped to question how far this went.

Roman never hated Virgil, he just thought of him as an inconvenience. But Virgil, on the other hand, was terrified. He did a good job at hiding it, he did a good job of hiding a lot of things. The reason for Virgil's fear of the dreamer, was because of his history with his counter: Namor.

Namor was the darker version of Roman. All the sides had darker counters which were all hidden in the depths of the subconscious. But for awhile, Virgil was also in the depths of the subconscious. But Virgil was much less extreme than the dark counter-aspects, so he got taken advantage of... And hurt. His biggest tormentor was Namor.

Namor was very lustful, manipulative, had zero remorse for his actions, and loved toying with people's emotions: for a long time, Virgil was his victim. Virgil spent about two years in the subconscious, one of those years were spent in an abusive relationship with Namor.

The two became acquainted almost immediately; both having having control over nightmares. The Dark Prince loved the idea of a new persona to toy with, especially with Anxiety being freshly manifested, he would be easy prey. So the torture of Virgil began.

The two stood in nightmare headquarters, the Prince eyeing the new guy, who he knew to be 'Anxiety'. Namor waltzed up to the younger persona to initiate his plan.

"Why, hello there, newbie. May I ask what is your name?" the prince spoke very promiscuously.

"I'm Anxiety, what about you?" he tried to ignore the undertones of the other as he spoke.

"I am Namor, Dark Prince of your dreams." Namor had backed Anxiety into a wall.

"Is that blushing, I see?" the Dark Prince had gently grabbed the other's chin to face him. He slowly pulled the other closer and closer to his lips, which met his.

Anxiety wasn't sure what to make of this, he was terrified, but Namor is the only one who has shown him a scrap of care, let alone... This. Anxiety hated being alone, he beared the heavier thoughts on himself instead of putting them on Thomas. So he went along with it.

Soon enough, the two were dating. And it was great at first: Anxiety didn't have to be alone, and Namor seemed to enjoy the relationship as well. Namor even comforted Anxiety when his thoughts were to harsh to bear, it was just as a healthy relationship should be. But gradually, things turned sour.

Namor pushed Anxiety's boundaries to an extreme; being extremely close all the time, kissing him randomly, sometimes grabbing him or picking him up. But since things were going so well, and because Namor did care about him, he told himself that it didn't matter.
He pretended it didn't make him uncomfortable, but when he was alone (which wasn't often), he would question whether or not he was being stupid for feeling uncomfortable and how he was being unreasonable. So he ignored it.

Things were going to slow for Namor. The two had been dating for about five months, and Namor was getting impatient; so he expressed his frustration out on Anxiety.

It was one of those nights. The nights that Anxiety secretly hated. The nights he spent with his boyfriend that always ended with either doing exactly what Namor wanted, or Namor exploding onto Anxiety. Tonight, though, Anxiety drew a line, and it was the worst mistake he could've made.
