"And when the pastor asks the pews for reasons he can't marry you, I'll keep my word and my seat. But you're gonna live forever in me. I'll guarantee, just wait and see."
- You're Gonna Live Forever In Me by John Mayer

My eyes fell upon her.

Her face, covered by an immaculate, white see-through veil, absolutely looks beautiful. Though it is definitely her smile that did the job more than the dress nor her make up do. For it is warm, sweet and jubilant. The very smile that makes my heart repeatedly bounce up and down to heavens and back every single time before.

And to my amusement, up until now.

I smiled, though it didn't quite reach my eyes.

Why do they all suddenly seemed to flash right before my eyes at this moment? Those memories. Memories of times when the reason behind those smiles of hers was still me.

It all happened eight years ago, I still vividly remember. I was 20 and a struggling student, whose goals were already set even before I learned to read the alphabet. That's right. Even as a child, I already knew what I would become when I grew up, because not a single day in my life that my mother had told me otherwise.

At first, I honestly believed that that dream was mine too.

I went to school, strived hard, and did the best that I could to get a sponsorship, in order to pursue the thing that I thought I most wanted. Until finally, my efforts paid off and my prayers were answered when a lady from a very rich family approached me during my last year of highschool. She told me that she was willing to finance my studies until I finish.

I have never seen my mother so ecstatic the moment she heared about the good news. And as for me, I too shared that happiness of course. Just seeing her happy, the woman who wholeheartedly sacrificed everything to single handedly raise me, is more than I could ever bargained for.

With that, I went into college full of that sparkling hope and youthful determination.

Almost four years quickly passed, and never even once did I disappoint myself or the people who put their faith and trust in me, for I made sure not to waste every single learning opportunity that comes my way. I acquired them pretty well, the means and ways not just to survive, but to excel in school as well. I became the top student and managed to maintained it for the first three consecutive years of my study. Everyone liked me. My teachers, my superiors, my classmates and even those students who belong to the younger batches. I was also able to achieve the so called alpha stature by being chosen as a group leader for one of our school's outreach programs, even if I was still only in my fourth year. A task which was supposed to be given, starting to students who are already in their fifth year.

But despite all of that, I didn't consider myself lucky still coz' not everything went sweet at the beginning. There were some, mostly older students, who openly expressed their disapproval regarding my appointment. But in the end, I still chose to do it anyway. I accepted it for I knew that my mother would be the proudest the moment she'll hear about it.

And so, on the supposed first day of our trip, I came in early and totally prepared for the day ahead. Our group then, rode a bus and went to one of the most neglected orphanage in our town- The Holy Grail Orphanage. And that's when I first met her. A young woman whose name is Maymay.
