Chapter 3

Anna walked down the hall back towards her physics room. History was a bore. First she was shouted at for being late, then she had to endure an hour of listening to Tracy Hayes blabber on about boys and last night's party. Ugh. She was glad to get away.

She peered into the classroom through the window on the door and found it empty. She tried the door, it was open so she walked in and leaned against a desk. There was no sign of Mr. Smith anywhere. 5 minutes passed..... Was he even coming? Did he forget? She was about to leave when Mr. Smith sprung out of the storage cupboard!

"Anna! Glad to see you could make it! So you want to see the stars?" He said with a wide grin. He certainly smiled a lot.

"Wh-What were you doing in there sir?" Anna stammered. She had been caught by surprise at Mr. Smith's sudden appearance.

He ignored the question and spoke more sternly.

"Do you want to see the stars Anna?"

"What, you mean like, stargazing or something? It doesn't get dark for hours..." Anna was very confused. "Sir, earlier you asked if I wanted to learn about stars and I do. But you're being very confusing." She started to think if this was a good idea.

"No Anna I don't mean stargazing, well, I say stargazing, you can still gaze at stars, it'll just be a little different to how you would portray stargazing, well I say a little different when I mean very different."

Anna looked at him blankly. He had been talking at about 50 miles per hour and seemed to go off in his own world.

"Let me show you." He said and walked towards the storage cupboard again. Anna assumed he was getting a textbook when he continued with "come on."

She dumped her bag on a nearby desk and followed him towards the cupboard.

She peered round the door to see a big, blue, 1960's police telephone box. This caught her completely by surprise. She had only just learned about them in history class half an hour ago. It was waaaay too big to fit through the door. How on earth did it get in there?

"Wh-h-how did that get in here sir?"

"Oh! You know, with precision. It took a while to get her in here. The first time round I had her parked backwards! It took a lot of trouble to turn her round the right way."

"P-parked?" Anna was still flabbergasted by the police box. It wasn't in there last week, she had been in the cupboard to grab some extra textbooks for Mr. Mason.

"Yes! I must admit it was a bit of a squeeze. Nothing I haven't done before though. Do you want to see inside?"

Anna seemed to get over the fact that there was a police box in the cupboard and stepped forward to touch its side.

"Why? What's in it? Surely it's just empty?"

That was strange, when she put her hand on the smooth wood it seemed to hum. Maybe it was the boiler right next to her in the cupboard. But it did seem to be coming from the box itself.

"Take a look" he said, pushing the door inwards, even though the sign said 'pull to open'.

Anna walked in. And backed straight out again, mouth open and eyes wide. She reached out and touched the side again, to make sure it was real. She then pinched herself. Ouch.

"Am-am I dreaming?" She asked. Still not believing in what she was seeing.

"Oh no this is very real." He replied while nodding his head. "Very, real."

He leaned on the edge of the box, and smiled as Anna ventured back inside, arms out in front of her as if she would hit the back wall and it would all be an illusion.

Inside was breathtaking. There seemed to be coral pillars around the dome-shaped room. There was a tall glass pillar in the middle that reached to the ceiling with what looked like various control panels around it at the bottom, bulging out like a diamond. On the floor there was an array of metal grating that lead from the door to the middle pillar and then off to what looked like a corridor. There were railings that surrounded the pathways and what looked like a sofa-type seat on one side. The outer walls had an orange/brown glow to them with some dirty circles all around.

It was all to much to take in. Anna ran out, grabbed her bag and started running out the door while calling behind her,

"See you tomorrow Mr. Smith!"

She tried to keep the shake out of her wavering voice. To be honest she was terrified, but intrigued. She had physics again tomorrow. Maybe she would wake up and it had all been a dream. Mr. Mason would be back with another of his wacky stories and she'd avoid the bullies, talk with Joe, eat lunch alone and read her book. Life as normal.

But she also wished that she would wake up, and what she had experienced was actually reality.

A/N Hey you guys! I hope you liked it! I promise that in the next chapter I'll have Anna actually going into the TARDIS and staying there for adventures. And there will be no more of this 'Mr. Smith' nonsense. He'll be the Doctor once more. I'm so glad that a couple of you like it! Even if in the end there's just one person who enjoys it I will keep on writing! Because tbh I'm enjoying writing this myself. Looking forward to hearing from you!

Thanks.
