Chapter 9 - Lies

The Ark, Unknown Planet

Milo gave Ethyl the package with the gauntlet in it. "Here you are!"

"Thanks a lot, Milo." Ethyl nodded, thanking Milo.

Milo writes a smiley on his face with a dry erase marker. "No problem partner! Come back if you need it fixed or want to add some modifications to it, but this time it'll come with coin!"

"Sure, thanks. I'll be off now."

"Seeya around, Ethyl!"

Milo went in the back door. Ethyl was walking back out but before he could beam up, Milli beamed down. "ETHYL!" Milli called out to him, panicking.

"Calm down, what's wrong?" Ethyl looked at Milli, who is catching her breath.

"R-Raena, she's gone!" Milli replied.

Ethyl moved his head up a bit. If he had a face, he would widen his eyes. "Shit, she must've gone ahead to the library..."

"Come on, we're taking the teleshop." He rushed to the teleshop, and contacted Sineeda. "Sinnie, come down to the teleshop. We need to catch up with Raena."

Sineeda got his message and beamed down next to Ethyl. "Alright." Sineeda put his rifle sling around him.

Ethyl got the gauntlet out of the box and wore it. "Cool, it's comfier..." He thought.

He opened his hand and saw the orange key with a lace on the palm of the gauntlet. "Huh?"

When he saw it, he started spacing out. He felt a strong connection to the key, and had a flash in his memories.

"Cap'n? What's the matter?" Milli looked back.

"O-Oh! Nothing. I'm just starving." Ethyl closed his hand again.

"NOW'S NOT THE TIME FOR THAT ETHYL!"

"I'M SORRY!"

Ethyl catches up to them and wore the key around his neck. He hid the key under his shirt and kept walking.

Meanwhile with Milo

Milo went to his workplace and saw a purple novakid with a plus sign as a brand leaning on the wall.

"Oh! Will!" Milo recognized the novakid immediately. "When'd you get here?"

"Just recently." Will replied. "Who was the guy?"

"Oh, that was Ethyl. A customer who had me jury-rig his gear."

"A brandless?"

"Yep, why?"

"...I see."

Milo tilted his head. "You're acting creepy again."

"You lucky bastard, Milo." Will took a book out from nowhere.

"That's painful." Milo replied with a written crying emoticon on his face with the dry erase marker.

"Orange gas with an almost reddish gradient... A Bodaway..."

"Bodaway?"

Will walked over to Milo and took his dry erase marker. He drew a smirk on his own face just below the brand. "Let me explain."

Milo gulped. "He's at it again..." He thought.

2-Stop Teleshop, The Ark

Ethyl hit the wall with his free hand (without the gauntlet, I mean.) "Fuck! The teleporter there is disabled!"
