“You stupid bitch! I should have killed you!”I heard my father’s screams. I couldn’t see him in the dark, but I was standing in an empty room with no light. I heard the sound of creaking floors, the same sound I used to hear that signaled my father was coming to my room.
My heart raced as the sounds became louder.
I let out a scream when a gun was placed on my temple. There was a bang before silence.
“You stupid bitch! I should have killed you!” I let out a gasped cry as I heard him again. The darkness was followed by the same creaking floors and my scream as a gun was placed on my temple.
BANG!
“You stupid bit-”
I screamed to block out the repeating nightmare. The darkness. The creaking floor. The gun. The-
BANG!
It never changed. My father, the darkness, the creaking floor, the gun. BANG.
BANG. BANG. BANG. BANG.
I screamed.
“Ashton, shh, it’s okay.” I heard Scott whisper. I calmed down, but didn’t dare open my eyes. “Just go back to sleep.”
I didn’t want to go back to sleep, I knew I’d see his face again. The reminder sent my eyes peeling open. I saw his face, I saw him lying on the floor, the gun in his hands. I saw him smirking before pulling the trigger.
“No, don’t move.” Scott warned but I ignored him. I moved to sit up, only to hiss at the pain in my stomach. I looked down at my revealed abdomen to find gauze wrapped around me. The center was tinged with red.
I fell back, looking up. “Is he dead?” I asked.
I looked at Scott and he nodded.
“What do I do know?” I asked.
“What do you mean? You stay here, with me.”
“I’m an orphan, Scott. What do you think the schools going to do if they find out?”
“I’ll figure that stuff out, okay. You need to rest. I have to go, will you be okay?” Scott asked.
I looked at him and nodded. “Yeah.” I answered quietly.
“Okay, I’ll come back later.” He said as he kissed my forehead. He smiled and got up, walking out of the room.
I sighed when the door shut. My fingers twitched with need, I had to do something. I needed some kind of structure, life worked in a specific way and without my father I didn’t have that.
I'm so sorry it's so short. This is mostly an extremely small filler chapter. But it is important with the rest of the story.
Hope you guys liked it!
