Happy Easter, Guys!!!!!!!!
“You okay, Sweetie?” Melissa asked me as she handed me a glass of water. We were currently sitting at the island in the kitchen, while Scott talked to his family members. I nodded and took a sip of water.
“Why is Scott…talking to them?” I asked.
Melissa shrugged. “Probably just being over protective. Are you hungry?”
“Uh, no. Actually can I use the bathroom?” I asked as I stood up.
“Of course, you don’t have to ask. It’s the first door on the left.” She said before heading towards the fridge.
I nodded and walked towards the hallway that led to the room Scott was in with his family. Halfway down the hall I found the bathroom to my left.
I thought about going in until I heard a loud voice from the large room down the hall, where Scott was. It was a girl’s voice and she continued to shout as I walked closer to the room, my back against the wall.
“Jesus, Kenneth. Can’t you see that girl is battered? Who knows what happened to that girl and all you care about is the fact that she’s human?” The girl questioned.
“She’s not one of us, Jesse. It’s just not right, is this even possible?” A guy, I’m assuming was Kenneth said.
“Obviously it is, because it’s happening. Ashton is my mate and you’ll just have to deal with it.” Scott growled. “And even if she was one of us and from a different pack it wouldn’t matter.” Pack? Mate?
“You have to admit, Scott, this isn’t normal. A werewolf and a human,” Kenneth stopped to laugh. “When have you ever heard of that happening?”
Okay, I now know what I have to do. I’ve got to get out of here, these people are nuts. Werewolves, really? I’m in a house with a bunch of psychos, I need to leave.
I began to breathe heavily as I rushed down the hall towards the door. Melissa stepped in front of me and I jumped back. “Get away from me.”
“Sweetie what’s wrong?” She asked, her eyes filled with concern.
“Are you crazy like them too?”
“What are you-”
“Do you think you’re a werewolf?”
Melissa’s eyes widened and she looked behind me. I followed her gaze to find Scott. “You told her?” Melissa asked.
“No, no, I didn’t think she was ready.” Scott replied, a sad look on his face.
“What? For me to find out that you’re all crazy?”
“Ashton…” Melissa went to grab my shoulders but I slapped her hands away.
“Just stay away from me. You too, Scott. I knew no normal guy would like me. This whole house is full of a bunch of crazy people. I’m getting out of here.”
“Ash, wait!”
“No! Just leave me alone. You should have never taken me away from my father.”
“Are you kidding me?! He was abusing you!”
“Because that’s the way it’s supposed to be. That’s how my life is.”
“No, it shouldn’t be.”
“What the hell do you know? You believe you’re a freaking werewolf, you’re crazy!” I shouted before rushing out of the house. I can’t believe I let myself trust Scott, even if it was just for a little bit.
I turned around and found that the house was now out of my sight. I ran through the woods, unaware of what I was doing or where I was going. Can I go home? Will my father let me come back, or will he kill me for causing him trouble? I guess it didn’t really matter whether he let me live or not.
Maybe I should have stayed with Scott. Is being with crazy people better than my abusive father? God, I’m useless. I don’t even know what’s best for me or what makes sense. Should I try something new or stick to what I know?
“I know how to do what I’m told, with no complaint. I know what I was taught, that I’m good for cleaning and cooking. I take care and am never taken care of. And I’m okay with that. I’m okay with that. I’m okay with that. I’m okay with that.” Once I started saying it I couldn’t stop. The same lines I used to tell myself when I was younger to convince myself of my place in the world. How I got through it. “I’m okay with that. I’m okay with that. I’m okay with that.” By now I had stopped running and was standing in the middle of the woods. I ran my hands through my hair, tugging at the roots, fistfuls of strands in my hand.
“I’m okay with that. I’m okay with that. I’m okay with that.”
My breathing was heavy from running, along with the anxiety I was probably giving myself. I could feel a bead of sweat fall down my forehead, over my left eyebrow. My eyelids became heavy and my head ached just enough for mind to become foggy. In my dizzy state I heard a low growl. I snapped my head towards the sound only to pull on my hair tighter as my head spun.
Focusing my eyes in front of me I saw a large, bigger than me large, wolf. My eyes widened for a moment before they weight of my eyelids forced them down. “I’m okay with it.” I mumbled involuntarily.
Just as the wolf inched towards me I felt my legs give out beneath me. My body fell to the ground.
I blinked slowly and when I opened them for the third time I found a boy standing over me. I squinted my eyes in confusion before I decided I’d rather sleep than think about it.
The last thing that went through my mind before my mind slipped away was…
Werewolves.
A/N: Thought I'd upload another chapter early since the last took so long and it was short, but this one is kinda short too.
Thank you to you guys who are reading, it really means a lot.
Anywho, there will be a lot of future editing and maybe even chapter changes, just layout and stuff.
Please comment and tell me what you think about the story so far, character development and so on.
