I got up and threw on this outfit:
I rushed downstairs and out the door without eating breakfast because I thought I was already late. I ran down to the quarry and saw that I was actually really early. "Damn. I could have eaten breakfast." I mumbled to myself. I sat there for about thirty minutes reading and then I heard the losers come up behind me. I looked up and they were already in their boxers, so I got up and took off my outfit to reveal my white bra and underwear. I turned around to see Beverly come up and strip into her bra and underwear. The boys were staring down at the water scarred and Beverly and I linked arms and screamed sissies. As we went down into the water we heard Richie scream "What the fuck!?" One by one the losers jumped in and splashed around. We chicken fought and splashed around for a couple more hours. I looked over at Bill who was staring at Beverly, right then I knew Bill had a crush on Bev and I smiled. Then, as I was getting out I saw a clown. I was scared shitless as everyone got out and sat at the top of the quarry. I couldn't move or breath correctly as I watched him wave at me and let go of a balloon. I was called back to reality as I heard Beverly call my name and as soon as I looked back the clown was gone.
We sat there listening to music and tanning when Bev whispers to me that the boys were staring. Beverly and I looked over and all of the boys looked the other way and cleared their throats. I got up and Richie pulled a binder out of Ben's backpack. The binder had research about events that had happened in the past of Derry.
"What's with the history project?" Richie asked.
"When I first moved here I didn't have anyone to hang out with so I went to the library. Ben stated.
"You went to the library on purpose? Richie deadpanned. Ben began to explain his research.
"I've got more stuff if you wanna see it." Ben offered.
"No, no." Eddie spoke softly but we went anyway.
We rode our bikes to Ben's house and went inside. I noticed someone hanging up a missing kid poster and went over. It was Patrick, Patrick Hockstetter. I held my hand up to my mouth as I began to sob softly. I didn't even get to say I forgave him for what he had done in the past. I dried my tears as I left back to Ben's house. I wanted to talk to Henry but not right then. I walked in and looked around.
"Wow Ben, this is so cool." I smile.
Beverly began to move the door as if she was going to close the door. She revealed a New Kids On The Block poster and smiled. Ben looked embarrassed as he turned, I watched as Beverly grabbed a postcard and left.
We all left and I wanted to go talk to Henry. I walked to Henry's house and knocked on the door. Henry opened the door and came out in front of me.
"Henry I am so sorry for what happened to Patrick." I said with empathy.
"What?" Henry growled.
"I knew you were-" Shink. Henry had pulled out his switchblade and had it against my throat in seconds, that's when I smelled the booze.
"Henry please." I tried to reason shakily.
"Aww what, am I scaring you Amber?" Henry barked in my face.
"Y-Yes Henry you a-a-are. my voice wavered. Henry backed me up against his Pontiac. At this point, tears were brimming in my eyes as I shook violently. Henry began to trace the blade around my neck softly and then it started to get harder until he slit my throat open. The last thing I heard was "You'll float too."
I shot up out of bed shaking and I felt tear trails. "It was only a dream, Amber." I mumbled to myself. I looked over at my clock and it read 6:30 Pm. When did I fall asleep? I thought to myself. It all came back to me.
Flashback:
I walked to Henry's house and knocked on the door. Henry answered and stepped outside, "What do you want?" Henry asked.
"I came here to apologize." I stated.
"Apologize for what?" Henry asked.
"For Patrick, I knew you guys were friends." I apologized.
"It's ok, we weren't really that close." Henry said.
"Anyway, I have to go." I said.
Flashback over.
