In a panic the few men who had accompanied Caesar on the second floor jumped into the elevator when it returned to the top. Their guns were ready to be fired at the kid who dared to attack their master. Even though you were left alone on the second floor you were glad to see that Mugiwara was safe.
You saw his appearance as the perfect opportunity to let Luffy know of Caesar's plan, but no words came out of your mouth. It wasn't known what it was that left you speechless. Seeing the kid in such an angered state made it hard for you to mutter any words.
And when he punched Caesar harder than he did before you gulped in fear. Caesar's counterattack, which was to inhale a giant ball of burning gas in his direction left Luffy unscathed. He quickly avoided the attack and punched Caesar in the face once again.
The workers could only gasp and throw disdainful words as they watched their master get brutally beaten. You couldn't help but let a small smirk sneak up on your face. Seeing Caesar lose his glory was a rare sight you were sure you would never see again.
There wasn't enough time left before the gass would envelop the entire place.
"Luffy!" You finally called out to the kid below you. You got down on your knees and peered down the hatch, holding tightly onto an overly excited Kiyoshi. Luffy looked up at ceiling. His mood brightened when he saw you.
"Where's Law? There's only a few minutes before the gas gets here! The R-66 door is the only way left for us to escape!" You shouted down to him. At that moment you decided you didn't care that you were going against Caesar. Said man growled both in pain and irritation when he heard your words.
From where you were you could use the controls in the room to open the R-66 door for everyone to get to safety, but it required perfect timing both for opening the door and closing it. As soon as everyone was through it would need to be closed. Therefore, someone would need to remain behind to close it.
"Don't worry about that! Just make sure it's opened for now!" Luffy shouted up at you after he heard your explanation. You nodded and stood up. You glanced at one side of the room where the controls for most of the doors and other openings in the building were.
You began to walk towards the controls when you felt your body weight lighten for a bit. You weren't sure what it was but it felt like you floated a few inches in the air for a moment. You didn't register what happened because you were already back on the floor by the time you noticed.
You decided to brush it aside and took a step. As though you triggered it the floor beneath you shifted and slid diagonally to the side. You failed to catch yourself on time and felt your body falling towards the hatch. You gasped, and, reacting quickly, wrapped your arms around your baby as you fell down from the second floor.
From the way you were falling you would be able to protect Kiyoshi from injury. It was unlikely that you would survive. During your fall you opened one eye and saw that the top half of the building was cut and shifted from its place. There was only one person who could've done that.
Before you hit the ground you felt something wrap around your waist and you were pulled into someone's chest.
"That was dangerous! Are you okay?" You opened your eyes at hearing Luffy's voice. Your eyes shot opened to avert down to the soft body held up against your chest. Kiyoshi was safe but was whimpering out of fear.
"Thank you for saving me," you said softly to him with a quivering voice. You had never been that scared before. The kid nodded and tilted his head up to the ceiling.
"Now that you're down here we can't open the door. That elevator-thing isn't function since its cables were cut when whatever that was happened," he said. At the top where you had fallen from a white hat popped up, catching you and Luffy's interests.
