Now that Law was restrained by the Vice Admiral and Doflamingo there was no doubt that the latter would be coming for you soon. And after you expressed stubbornness when you spoke to the Fleet Admiral there was a possibility that the newly arrived marines would be making their appearance inland soon.
Should the two groups happen to come across each other more conflict would arise since Sakazuki chose to not inform Doffy of the recent summoning. You couldn't leave with the marines as you had something you considered of greater importance to attend to.
And that was the heart rapidly beating in your pocket. Wherever the scientist was he was nervous and anxious. He must've realised by the then that Law exchanged his heart with someone else's and kept his hidden. And because he didn't know where it was he was afraid.
You couldn't help but chuckle. Somehow Law outsmarted Doflamingo, an act you came to believe to be near impossible if not very difficult. Not only did he do so, he also discovered of your connection with the Revolutionary Army and allied himself with both Luffy and Sabo.
You needed no further evidence and were convinced that Law gathered up enough power to go against Doffy. Even though he was currently captured there was a lot of damage the Strawhats and the Revolutionary Army could cause in his absence.
"I should've had faith in you from the beginning," you muttered to yourself as you thought back to the short message you received back in Punk Hazard. Once all the items had been returned to your pocket, those being the heart and den den mushi, you once again attempted to stand up.
As you anticipated you couldn't, but as you fell back down to the ground a hand snaked around your waist. With the other behind your knees you were lifted up in someone's arms. You expected it to have been Doflamingo who reached you first and were surprised to learn that the race wasn't between him and the marines, but had Law as a participant as well.
He must've escaped and wasn't in a good state either. His breathing was hitched and blood flowed from various wounds visible on his body.
"You escaped? How? Where's-"
"I'm right here, my darling," a voice said that made you quickly turn your head to where its owner was. A little ways off was the large figure that belonged to Doflamingo, radiating a menacing aura as he always did.
"A clever move on your part, Law. You caught us off guard and within the few minutes you were out of my sight you hid Caesar," Doflamingo stated, and that was when you noticed the absence of the scientist. It wasn't impossible to hide something in such a desolate and largely forested place.
"I didn't hide him. All I did was hand him over to the Strawhats. They're moving away from the island at this moment," Law explained through difficult breathing. Anything he did provoked anger from Doflamingo. What contributed to the same anger was the way you cared for Law, which threatened Doflamingo and made him suspicious of your self proclaimed loyalty.
If what Law said was true then Caesar was in the hands of the Strawhats who remained with their ship instead of going inland. Jora's mission to capture them and retrieve Kiyoshi along with Baby5 and Buffalo resulted in a failure. You didn't have to worry about Kiyoshi being in Doffy's hands anymore, and instead had to worry about the whereabouts of Hisoka and Ren.
"What do you intend to do with Jora? You should know better than to underestimate my family's loyalty. She's useless to you," Doflamingo stated, proving to Law that taking Jora hostage wouldn't benefit him even a little bit as she would willingly sacrifice herself for her master.
But it wasn't Jora alone he had taken as hostage. Four of the Donquixote Family members were on the Strawhats' ship along with a certain subordinate. Even if Caesar wasn't on board it was unlikely that Doflamingo would offer all of them as sacrifices.
"She isn't of any importance to me. All I care about is Caesar. On their way out to sea the Strawhats will drop off Jora and the two heads in an unknown location. We'll let you know where later," Law explained to Doffy.
"What about my son?" And Doflamingo asked after Law didn't mention what he would do with Kiyoshi.
"I'll keep him with me for a little while longer." Being guaranteed that Jora, Baby5 and Buffalo would be set free wouldn't be enough to make Doflamingo satisfied if his son wouldn't be returned to him as well. Law was pushing him to the edge and he would have no choice but to retaliate.
"That's if I don't get to them first," Doflamingo began after he took a deep breath to calm himself down.
"You're lucky I'm in such a rush and don't have enough time to kill you. Before I go after that ship I'm going to need Caesar's heart," he finished off by expressing his impatience. There would be no point in going after the body if the heart was still in the hands of the enemy.
But the pink cube was in your possession. If it became known to Doffy that you had it the entire time and didn't think to report that fact to him you would be in serious trouble.
"Unfortunately for you, I don't have it with me," Law said and let a smirk crawl onto his face. What he received as a response was a chuckle from the king.
"I know that much. I also know you aren't willing to tell me its location," Doffy said, suddenly bringing his attention to you," Where is it, (y/n)?" You desperately held back your shock as you hadn't expected him to ask you that question.
Despite being so close to him you couldn't communicate with Law in front of Doffy, therefore you didn't know what answer to give him. Should you lie and say you don't know where it is and risk him seeing through your lie? Or should you tell the truth?
You certainly couldn't do the latter. But you knew Doffy was purposely being vague as you were with him. He wouldn't go after the ship himself. His time wasn't at all limited like he said it was. After all, he could find the heart's location, and call for his executives to corner the ship while he finally went ahead and killed Law.
And where would your decision leave you when he was done with Law? You hoped that by lying to him you could at least buy some time for the ship to get as far from the island as it could.
"I don't know where it is," you said just loud enough for him to hear, without stuttering as you expected yourself to. Doffy didn't waste another second and jumped towards you and Law.
You heard Law click his tongue when he realised Doflamingo was after you instead and quickly activated his Devil Fruit power. Before Doffy got to you your body vanished and was replaced by a log from a large tree that had been on the ground.
After you fell on your butt where the log was before you witnessed Law kick it towards Doflamingo, which gave him enough time to draw his sword while Doflamingo focused on slicing the log to pieces.
You couldn't tell whether Doflamingo believed you or not. He might have decided not to waste any more time by forcing the answer out of Law.
When Law attempted to strike at Doffy his attack was blocked by Doffy's foot, and with his other he kicked Law in the side, sending him flying back and landing painfully beside you. The kick might as well had just been a coup de grâce, as Law seemed unable to get up.
You were too focused on him that you didn't notice the king until he crouched down before you and reached out for your leg. You flinched and moved away out of instinct but he held onto your leg and violently twisted your ankle, popping it back into place.
You screamed for the few seconds you felt the pain until it slowly subsided to the point where it was tolerable, but still very painful.
"There you can stand now, can't you?" He said as he moved away and walked towards Law. You attempted to stand and saw that you really could, but could barely walk without limping.
"As I said earlier I'm not going to kill you just yet, Law, even though I know that Caesar's heart is with my disloyal woman. That meddlesome Vice Admiral would like to see you first," Doflamingo stated as he stopped next to Law. The junior Shichibukai could barely move, let alone stand up. It was possible that he was only partly conscious.
Doflamingo motioned for you to come over to him. You couldn't see behind those shades but his gaze frightened you. You reluctantly did as he ordered and limped to him. You raised your arms up and wrapped them around his neck as he threw Law over his shoulder before flying off towards Dressrosa.
