"You know I have to admit, that was one of the BEST burritos I've ever had," said Noah as he wipes his mouth with one of the napkins that were placed on our table. I chuckle to myself as I take the last bite of my meal. I look around at all the empty plates that covered our table, shit we sure do know how to eat. I looked over at Alyssa who was in a meaningful conversation with Trevor. If you were to look at us as an outsider you would never have believed that this small fragile little girl had kept us locked up in cold dark room for hours. I'm sure many people will call me crazy for being so quick in forgiving her but I know it would have hurt Matthew to know that his only sibling and only girlfriend despised each other. I hear a vibrating come from the other side of the table where Alyssa was sitting. She digs deep into her purse and produces a phone with a picture of me and Shane on the back, it was my phone.

"Hey Lucy you're phone has been ringing all day I almost forgot about it, it's from a guy called Shane," Fuck I think to myself, the man has probably gotten himself into such a state wondering where I am. I take the phone from Alyssa's hand and excuse myself from the table and the restaurant. By this time the phone had stopped vibrating so I took this as a perfect time to ring Shane back. I click on "Dad <3" and hold the phone to my ear. Shane picks p the phone immediately and I can hear Dan on the other line asking if I had answered. "Lucy Genevieve Dawson, care to explain where the fuck you are and why the fuck you haven't been answering my calls all fucking day?" I sigh, disappointed in myself. "Hello to you to father, I'll be back soon with some hot tea to spill right now I'm in the middle of a munch,"  I could hear a small chuckle. " Wow you sound too much like me, get your ass home soon, you have a lot of explaining to do." "See ya soon Shane," I quickly click the hang-up button. "What was that about Lucy?" Alyssa questioned, "Oh it was the guy who adopted me, I've had him worried sick all day." I sigh to myself knowing that Shane can get so worked up. "Well we better get you home now, I'll talk to him if you want?" Alyssa said to me smiling meaningfully. "That would be much appreciated," I smile back.

We got everything cleared up, putting all the trash in the bin. Trevor and I had been left alone, Alyssa was right outside saying goodbye to the guys she had hired to keep us trapped in the basement of the hotel. I looked at Trevor who had sat down on the shiny red seats, staring off into the distance clearly thinking about something. "You ok Trev?" I say to him after clearing off the last bit of rubbish that laid on the table. "In all honesty Lucy, I don't know. This past month has been crazy. I was working with Alyssa, I met you and fell in love with the idea of being in love with you and now it's like Alyssa is a completely different person, she finally has someone who knows what she's going through and can actually help her. It's all so surreal like I was living in a dream for ages and I couldn't wake up from it.And now, it's all over." He looked down at his hands that were fiddling with a loose thread on the chair. "It doesn't have to be over you know? Alyssa and I can grow to love each other like we did before Matthew. And I'm sure you and Alyssa can start from the beginning and this relationship can be real." He half smiled at me and looked down again. "I don't know if that's what I want." He whispers. "Then what is it you want because whatever it is, I will help you achieve it." I hold his hand rubbing the back of it with my thumb. "Lucy, there's something I haven't told you, something I haven't told anyone. I was too embarrassed and ashamed of myself." "Whatever it is Trevor, you have nothing to be ashamed of. You can tell me if you want, but you don't have to. I'm not forcing you." "Lucy you, my dear, are a star," He giggled. "But what I wanted to tell you is that I'm-"

"You guys ready to go?" Alyssa asked picking up her bag. I looked between her and Trevor, who had a look of disappointment on his face. "Yes we are," he says standing up from the chair and begins to head out of the restaurant. "Did I interrupt something?" Alyssa asks me. "I think so, but I'll talk to him later but for right now we need to go talk to Shane."

20 minutes later we arrive at the hotel, by now the sky was a gorgeous periwinkle blue and there were no clouds covering it. I step out of the vehicle and take a deep breath, mentally preparing myself for the lecture that I was about to receive from my adopted father. We climbed up the stairs of the hotel to Shane's room and before anyone even knocked the door flung open with a worried Shane standing in the doorway. He grabbed me into a huge bear hug, squeezing the actual life out of me. "Bitch you got some explaining to do," he says. "Actually that will be my job," Alyssa states from behind me. "Oh yes, Shane this is Alyssa, Matthew's sister" He nods and smiles in Alyssa's direction. "Hello," He says while pulling us into the hotel room. "You know what guys I'm actually really tired so I'm just gonna hit the sheets," Trevor says while backing away from the room into the hallway. "Trevor, wait," But before I could get the words out he disappeared. I sighed knowing that he was probably pissed off because he didn't get to tell me what he wanted to. I closed the door and turned back to see what everyone else was doing. "Lucy I'm going to take Shane into the other room and tell what happened today, but I think there's someone who wants to talk to you," Alyssa says with a smirk on her face. I turn around to see Dan standing behind me, I instantly ran into his arms. We stood in that embrace for a solid 5 minutes. "Lucy, you have no idea how worried I have been," His voice muffled because of my hair. "You can stop worrying, I'm back and I'm fine, ok?" I say to him cupping his face in my hands. He slowly nodded, pulling me back into a hug. Once we broke apart, he reached down to my face moving a strand of hair, he rubbed my cheek with his thumb. He bent down to my level and our lips brushed against each other ever so slightly. He teased a little bit before committing to a proper kiss, only separating for air.

Suddenly the sound of someone clearing their throat behind us made us jump apart. "Alyssa explained what happened Lucy, and I have to say I'm so proud of you for forgiving her because I couldn't have," Shane says his voice croaky, it was obvious he had been crying. I pull him into a hug. "Thank you," I say, a single tear rolling down my face. "Well I'm just going to slip out," I hear Alyssa say. "You've got my number Lucy, please feel free to contact me at any time." I wave to her as she leaves the hotel room. I flop down on the very welcoming hotel bed and cover my face with my hands. "Yeah, I'm probably going to leave to, you guys probably want to talk," Dan says picking up his black leather jacket. I sit up again watching him as he comes closer and kisses my forehead. "I'll see you tomorrow ok?" I nodded looking up at his angelic face. "Ok"

As the door clicked shut, Shane sat down beside me. "How are you feeling? You've had a rough day," he whispers covering my hand with his. "You know what? I'm ok, actually I'm more than ok. It's as if this hole I've had in my heart since Matthew died has been filled" A tear rolled down my cheek. A tear of happiness. A tear of remembrance. Shane wiped the tear from my face and gently pulled me into him, wrapping his arms around me.

Today was a day that I'll forever remember.
