Once again, I sat on Theo's bed, shielding my eyes with my hand. Theo sat down beside me and placed his hands on my head.
"Don't worry, I'm only looking." he said. "You won't feel a thing."
We sat there for a silent minute. Theo moved my head in several directions, as if he was looking for something.
"Hmm." he suddenly said. "Now that's fascinating."
"What's fascinating?" I asked.
"You do have powers." he mumbled, moving my head a little back and forth. "But you're bounded. The neural pathways to the brain part that control powers are cut and blocked." I could feel his breath in my hair. "It's nearly invisible. Whoever bounded you must be very good at it. I've not seen a brain change like this since Idio died..."
"Idio?"
"My twin brother." he said, letting my head go. "He used to work here too. Since we were identical twins, his powers were identical to mine. Though for some reason he was always more interested in destructing than healing. With me it's the other way around- though destruction can be great fun, too..." and he laughed. "Idio was vaporised during a Stormling attack five years ago. At least, we think he was, because we never found his body and there was a lava flood and everything. But nobody saw him die. And... it might be better that way."
I saw him suppressing his tears. I wanted to say something to comfort him, but I couldn't think of anything.
Theo sighed. "Life goes on, too fast sometimes."
"At least the memories remain." I whispered.
"Yes, the memories." He looked as his shoes, as if he tried to find Idio in there instead of his own feet. One lonely tear escaped Theo's left eye, despite his fighting, and rolled down his cheek.
