XXVII - Blood

The next morning, I felt a little nervous. We had been planning this out carefully, and the most important role in the plan was mine.

Fenna woke me up early that morning. "He'll come in a few minutes." she said.

I sat ready before the gate through which people with powers could enter, by forming an opening in the rock, and waited, watching the clock next to the door.

At exactly 6:12, a Stormling in a white coat came in.

Fenna nodded to me. This is the one.

The Stormling yawned and opened the gate. He looked at me, sitting next to the gate and already rolling up my sleeve, which was not easy with claws.

"Are you that eager to have your powers suppressed, Eagle?" he grumbled.

"I'm only trying to make clear I'm not hostile." I said, as he kneeled down and brought the needle up to my arm.

Now's the moment.

The moment I felt the cold rushing through me, I let myself fall forward. I held out my hands -claws- "to break the fall", and "accidentally" cut open the Stormling's right knee to the bone.

"Oh, I'm sorry!" I called out, or would've called out if my voice wasn't muted again. "I lost my balance!"

"Let me help." Theo said, while crawling quickly towards us and tearing a piece of his shirt. He tried to bind it around the Stormling's knee and said: "This'll stop the bleeding for now. I'm sorry I can't do more."

Fenna had moved to her post behind the Stormling in the mean time. I nodded to her; he was distracted enough.

"You, go away with your shirt!" he gasped, and pushed Theo away. "I don't need no shirt!" He placed his hand on the wound and healed it.

"I'm really sorry." I whispered, and even managed to let some tears glide down my face. "Next time I'll lean to the back instead."

The Stormling pressed his lips together and proceeded to drug Theo and Fenna. They didn't resist in any way, exactly as planned.

At 6:22 he left. He hadn't said any more words. We crawled together under Fenna's blanket to deal with the cold within.

"Got it!" Fenna whispered enthusiastically, and she showed us the syringe she stole. "Who of you gets it?"

I looked at Theo. "Your Bio powers are the strongest." I said. "If your powers are active again, you could reactivate ours too, right?"

"Sure." Theo said. "I'll take it."

"Are you sure?" Fenna asked. "Don't forget I didn't test it... It could as well be poison."

"Don't make me doubt, Fenna!"

"Sssht!" I hissed. "Someone's coming!"

A few seconds later, the door was slammed open.

"You!" the guard yelled, and he pointed at me. "Eagle! Here!"

I stood up and walked to the gate, shivering uncontrollably. I wondered how long that would last.

The guard opened the gate and violently grabbed my wing to pull me through. He pushed me towards the table on the left.

"Claws on the table!"

I put my claws on the table.

An axe of ice materialized in his hand. "You will not tear open any knees again, Eagle."

I closed my eyes and got ready for the pain, but for that pain I couldn't have gotten ready enough. I screamed as the axe smacked on the table, straight through my left wrist. Tears of pain and frustration flowed from my eyes like waterfalls.

"Drop that axe!" Theo's voice suddenly sounded.
