Don't want to put what the prompt was because I felt it would ruin it.

Just read on.

It hurt me to write this, owh.

P.S - italics are flashbacks.

Sitting there outside the hospital on the bench, Kaitlyn stared blankly ahead of her as the tears fell freely.

The night had been going so well until then.

It had been an almost perfect night for the two of them, almost similar to one of those romantic dates you see in those soppy love movies.

They strolled out of the restaurant, hand in hand and smiles on their faces as they strolled together through the city of New York.

Work had brought them both here, having a show around the area. Dean decided to surprise Kaitlyn with a romantic date, just the two of them since they've both been caught up in work, having little to no time at all with on another alone.

He took her to a nice restaurant, dressing up for the occasion. Dean wanted this to be special, and there was a certain reason for this too.

Dean was planning to propose to Kaitlyn tonight.

He had pondered over this for months, talking with Seth and Roman who were shocked Dean was even think about proposing to Kaitlyn, as they didn't assume him to be a marrying type.

But he wasn't, before that was. Kaitlyn had changed something about him, she was his first serious relationship as he wasn't normally the 'one woman' kind. Plus, with his wrestling lifestyle it was difficult to keep up with the demands of a relationship whilst trying to make a name for himself on the independent circuit.

However Kaitlyn was different, Dean felt challenged, he had to fight for her affections, unlike most of the women who would normally just fall to his feet. He yet managed to win her heart, and he fount himself completely taken away by her. She really made him a better person.

Heck, Dean even went out with Kaitlyn's best friend AJ to find the perfect ring because he knew this was one thing he wanted to get perfect. He had messed up in some places of his life but this is one thing he wanted to get right on the first go, also wanting it to be perfect for Kaitlyn too.

Since it was a beautiful night, the moon shining brightly in the night sky, they headed for Central Park, deciding to take a walk there, hand in hand.

It sounded like the perfect end to a perfect date to Kaitlyn.

"It's so beautiful here.", Kaitlyn admired as she looked up at the sky, sighing happily.

"It really is.", Dean agreed looking down at her with a smile.

"Was that your attempt at a corny joke?"

"Maybe.", Dean smirked, Kaitlyn swatting his arm causing him to laugh, pulling him into her arms as he embraced her.

Then it all went wrong in an instant.

The sound of the shot being fired. Dean dragging Kaitlyn to the ground to protect her from any more gunshots, the screams and shouts of the other people in the park.

Kaitlyn looked around, not seeing anyone but the fear of the people around. Some helping others off of the ground and comforting them. She then looked at her boyfriend who had a pained expression on his face.

Confusion set on the girls face until she looked down, then she saw it.

Staining his dark coloured shirt to a burgundy colour, blood.

"Dean.", she let out a whisper.

Letting out a grunt, he sat back almost falling to the ground completely until Kaitlyn caught him in her arms, holding him up. Dean's left arm draped over his chest as his breathing was shortened.

Taking his hand, Kaitlyn lifted it to see it stained red. Tears threatened to fall from her eyes as she placed it back on along with her hand, putting pressure on the wound.

"Someone help, please! He's been shot!", Kaitlyn cried out.

She remembered someone coming over, asking what had happened. She told them, and they went to call 911.

Kaitlyn couldn't get out the feeling she had when she was holding him in her arms, the way his body went limper and heavier in her arms as time passed by, how cold he went.

And there was nothing she could do but try and surpass the bleeding until the ambulance got there.

She felt useless.

"Dean stay with me, stay with me baby.", Kaitlyn spoke, her voice panicked.

Her emotions were everywhere, she couldn't think straight.

"Kait.", Dean spoke breathlessly as his eyes closed.

"I'm here, I'm right here.", she took his hand in hers, placing a kiss on the back of his hand. His hand felt cold to the touch.

"I need to ask you something."

"Dean not no-"

"If I don't do it I won't ever get the chance.", he let out.

Those words hit her like a ton of bricks, her eyes widening slightly as the tears fell.

Her reality set in that this wasn't going to be forever with him.

Shifting the best he could, Dean put his free hand in his trouser pocket, pulling out a diamond engagement ring. Kaitlyn let out a sob as her hand covered her mouth.

"Kaitlyn, words can't describe how much I love you. You've changed my life, made me a better man and I thank you so much for that.", taking a deep breath Dean continued. "You're my everything, and I'm sorry for the way this is ending."

"Don't apologise.", she shook her head, running her hand through his hair.

"But will you do the honor of accepting my proposal, and marry me?"

Nodding her head vigorously, Kaitlyn smiled slightly as she let out another sob. "Yes, of course I will." Taking her left hand, Dean placed the ring on her finger.

Leaning down to place a kiss on his lips, Kaitlyn held him close, laying her head ontop of his. Slowly she felt his breathing slow down.

"You are the best thing that's ever been mine, I'll love you, always.", Kaitlyn heard him mumble.

"I'll always love you Dean, you'll always be with me."

Silence came between the two of them as sirens could be heard in the distance getting closer.

Lifting her head she saw the peaceful look on his face as more tears fell from her eyes. Kaitlyn held him closer, wanting one last moment him before she'll have to say goodbye forever.

Sniffling, Kaitlyn looked down at her left hand, playing with the ring what he had given her in his last moments. The ring what she will never take off, the last thing he ever bought her.

Only having this, photos of him and the memory of their relationship together to remind her of him.

Something what she will treasure forever because on that night, Dean Ambrose died in her arms.
