The virtues of reciting the Qur’an in Ramadan

We read the Qur’an in and outside of Ramadan, seeking to read the word’s of Allah and to learn about the wisdoms of our religion. However, reading the Qur’an in Ramadan has its own special rewards as we learned a few days ago. Today we will  talk about the different type of Qur’an recitation and there virtues.

The first type: The practical recitation

This type of recitation is when the Muslim reads the Qur’an solely to learn more about what is right and wrong and implementing what Allah orders in his/her daily life.

The Second type: The verbal recitation

This type of recitation is when the Muslim recites the Qur’an for its literal meaning and for the propose of memorization.

Evidence:

In a hadith narrated by Uthman bin Affan the prophet Muhammad (SAW) said: The best of you are those who learn the Qur’an and tech it to others.

In another hadith Aisha narrated that the Prophet Muhammad said: “The one who recites the Qur’an skillfully will be with the Ambassador Angels, the honorable and the obedient. While the one who recites with difficulty will have two rewards (or double the rewards); one for his recitation and the other for his struggle to recite.

In a hadith narrated by Abu Hurayah the Prophet Muhammad said: “No people will gather in one of Allah’s houses, reciting the book of Allah and studying it amongst themselves, except that tranquility will descend upon them, they will be overwhelmed with mercy, encircled by angels and Allah will mention them to those who are with him.

The Prophet Muhammad also said: And recite the Qur’an frequently for verily I swear by him whose and is my soul, it is slipperier than the camel from its loop.  (Added to the hadith above)

In another hadith the Prophet said: I will teach you the greatest chapter of the Qur’an:

All praise is due to Allah, The lord of all the worlds. (From Surah al Fatiha)

I conclude with a hadith narrated by Abu Umamah. The prophet Muhammad said: Read the Qur’an for verily it will intercede for you on the day of judgment.
