The Blessing Allah gives the fasting Muslim:
As we know the fasting Muslim receives large rewards in this life and in the hereafter. But do we know of the blessings that Allah gives especially to the fasting Muslim?
There are five special blessings that Allah gives to fasting Muslims:
+ Forgiveness from all past sins
+Rewards are not restrained
+The fasting person is protected from Jahanam
+Increase in Taqwa
+Protection from sin (such as shouting and cursing)
Explanation and evidence:
The Prophet Muhammed (SAW) said:
“Whoever fasts the month of Ramadan motivated by of Iman (Faith) and seeking the pleasure of Allah, his/her past sins are forgiven.”
+This means that the fasting person must have the correct intentions for fasting in order to have all of his/her past sins forgiven.
The Prophet Muhammad (SAW) said:
"Allah said, ‘All the deeds of Adam's sons (people) are for them, except fasting which is for Me, and I will give the reward for it.'"
+This means that fasting is only for Allah and Allah will reward it.
Surat al Imran
O ye who believe! Fasting is prescribed for you, even as it was prescribed for those before you, that ye may ward off (evil) (2:183).
This ayah commands Muslims to fast so that they can become righteous. The word righteous in this ayah means to attain Taqwa or fear of Allah.
The prophet (S.A.W.) said, "If it happens that it is a day of fasting, then do not talk in profanity and do not shout with anger." And in another hadith he say’s “Fasting is protection the servant protects himself with it from Hell Fire."
This hadith goes to show how important it is to abstain from shouting (getting angry) and profanity especially in the holy month of Ramadan.
I conclude with a hadith narrated by Imam Ahmad: "Fasting and Qur’an intercede for the servant on the Day of Judgment. Fasting says: O Lord, I prevented him from food and desire, so allow me to intercede for him, and Qur’an says, "O Lord I prevented him from sleeping at night, so allow me to intercede for him. He (the prophet),then, said: They intercede."
