Laylatul Qadr (the night of power) Part II

Yesterday we talked about the immense rewards that can be earned during Laylatul Qadr by praying, making Dua’a and worshiping Allah. Today we will talk about how to spot Laylatul Qadr and what Dua’a and prayers to make on Laylatul Qadr.

How to spot Laylatul Qadr:

Narrated ‘Ibn Abbas: The Prophet Muhammad (SAW ) said:“Look for the Night of Qadr in the last ten nights of Ramadan on the night when nine or seven or five nights remain out of the last ten nights of the Ramadan.”

In another hadith the Prophet Muhammed (SAW) say’s: “The Night of Qadr is in the last ten nights of the month of Ramadan either on the first nine or in the last (remaining) seven nights of Ramadan.”

Narrated ‘Aisha : With the start of the last ten days of Ramadan, Allah’s Messanger (SAW ) used to tighten his waist-belt (i.e. hard work) and used to offer Salat (Prayer) all the night, and used to keep his family awake for the Salat (prayers).

Dua’a to make on Laylatul Qadr:

Aisha, said: I asked the Messenger of Allah: 'O Messenger of Allah, if I know what night is the night of Qadr, what should I say during it?' He said: 'Say: O Allah, You are pardoning and You love to pardon, so pardon me.'

Payer’s to perform on Laylatul Qadr:

The Prophet Muhammad does not mention any specific prayers to pray on Laylatul Qadr but we know that the rewards are much bigger if a Muslim pray’s on Laylatul Qadr so making the regular night prayer’s should be sufficient. And Allah knows best.

I conclude with a hadith: The Prophet (SAW) said: "Whoever prays during the night of Qadr with faith and hoping for its reward will have all of his previous sins forgiven."
