[the dance]
-chapter eleven

i may've been calm on the outside but inside i exploded, i was so extremely happy. as soon as jeremy left, i immediately called alya, she'd probably be happy i got a date! i had to call her.

the phone was ringing, my hand slightly shaking as i help it up to my ear. "i have a date!" i shrieked as soon as she picked up
"you go girl, " replied alya "i knew adrien had to ask eventually."

i paused, taken aback slightly. "um... alya- yeah about that ummm... im not going with adrien." i said rather meekly.
"what is wrong with you!" yelled alya through the phone. it wasn't on speaker, but I guessed adrien could hear it from upstairs considering it was so loud. my suspicions were confirmed and he popped his head out of the window and looked down at me. "hey, are you okay?" he asked, a little confused. i could hear alyas muffled shouting, but i had put my hand to cover the speaker. i smiled at him shyly and mouthed "a l y a" and he laughed and put his head back inside.

i returned back to her call. "shush, jeremy asked me but we're just going as friends- ya know friends." i said as slowly and clearly as possible.
"if you say so, but I still don't trust him. there's just something off about that guy," warned alya. "see ya."

i disconnected and ran to the office, getting started on the dress. I could finally finish making it! i made a few starts on it in terms of cutting out the patterns and stitching things roughly here and there- but. now it was high time to get properly down to. buisness. hours upon hours had passed like minutes and it was almost complete- but not yet.

"marinette?" i heard a voice outside the door "can you come here?"
i got up, surprised, I thought adrien had left to go to ninos or something while I was here. i walked outside to an awkwardly smiling adrien and dinner.
"please, sit." he motioned to the chair.

"you really shouldn't have....why- uh why do you do this?" i asked uncertainly.
"ummm.... well heh- will you go to the dance with me?" he asked tentatively.
my expression dropped "i understand if not- i mean, you know you don't have-" he blabbed, not making eye contact with me.

"adrien- i... im really sorry, but jeremy already asked me- and...and...I really would but," i lowered my gaze-  staring at my lap. "im really sorry."
"oh... it's ok- i understand" he said "don't worry about it...really." he looked extremely sincere saying so, but the rest if dinner was still slightly awkward. not many words were exchanged, apart from some "wow, this is delicious" and "thank you".
