(Author's Note- "Bloodshed got some feedback that left me happy and satisfied with my work, so I thought as a bonus, I'd share some trivia, or "behind the scenes" and "fun facts" about my
Minecraft: Story Mode murder mystery story)
The guests/ suspects are references to characters from other series. I thought of the idea to make it like an Easter egg game for the readers.
There were more guests/ suspects, but due to too many suspects added in the story, and after the release of season 2, I scrapped some of them out.
Nathan is a reference to NateWantsToBattle, who is one of my favorite music artists and I was introduced to his music by my best friend. You can find her here on Wattpad. Her username is Berry-O-Pokémon
Maxine is a reference to Max from "Life is Strange"
Tara is a reference to Tara Chambler from The Walking Dead TV show
Peri is a reference to Peridot from Steven Universe. Since she's the only guest/ suspect who references a non-human character from another series, I had to describe her appearance as a human to fit in the story.
Amanda is a reference to Amanda Lee, a Youtuber who does anime cover songs and is indeed a friend to NateWantsToBattle in real life.
Ashlie, Nick, and Tommy are all references to Youtubers who work with Youtuber NewScapePro. Their youtuber names are Ashlie9596, Zres, and FrozenGargon.
Sean is a reference to jacksepticeye. His name comes from Jack's real name.
Bert is a reference to Bert the geologist from The Big Bang Theory
Carrie is a reference to Carrie White from Stephen King's novel
Lawrence is a reference to Sammy Lawrence from Bendy and the Ink Machine.
Characters who were scrapped after the release of season 2 of MCSM where characters named Jack (after Jack Dawson from the Titanic movie) and Samantha (after Sam from Until Dawn). I removed them to avoid confusion between Jack and Sammy from MCSM.
Lawrence was originally going to be named Sammy, but after season 2 was released, and after shipping Jack from MCSM with his friend Sammy, I changed Lawrence's name to not get readers confused.
Originally, I was going to include three other guests who were just scrapped because the suspect amount was too much. The suspects who got cut from my story were Lee (after Lee Everet from Telltale's The Walking Dead game), Chandler (after Chandler Bing from Friends), and Marcy (after Marceline from Adventure Time)
There is a gag with Bert where the other characters say or think that he sounds like Axel from MCSM. This is a reference to Brian Posehn, who not only is Axel's voice actor, but also the actor who plays Bert the geologist from The Big Bang Theory.
It is hinted that Peri has a crush on her roommate Lazuli. This is a reference to how I ship Lapis and Peridot from Steven Universe.
Lukas admitting that his bisexual after meeting Tara is a reference to my headcanon fact that Lukas is bi. I ship Lukas with F. Jesse, but I also see him being shipped with M. Jesse just as canon, which is why I like to believe that Lukas is bi.
Tara being a lesbian, Peri hinted to be a lesbian, and Lukas admitting he's bi was intended to be included for some positive LGBT representation in the story.
"Bloodshed" is believed to take place sometime before season 2 began. It takes place sometime after Radar was officially hired as an intern.
Despite what some of my watchers thought, I was NOT inspired to have the lodge setting based on the Washington Lodge from Until Dawn.
Lawrence's eerie message THE GODS SHALL BE APPEASED and the items on the pedestals for the satanic ritual are references to elements from Bendy and the Ink Machine, which Lawrence references a character from.
Ironically, I haven't played Bendy and the Ink Machine, but I have seen a few Youtubers play the chapters that have been released so far, which where I got the idea of Lawrence being the killer.
I came down to creating Lawrence so that he wouldn't directly reference a villain and still pass off as a possible innocent. If I had the killer reference a villain from another series, especially by name, then the readers could've easily picked it up.
My favorite part of writing "Bloodshed", other than including all the guests who were references, was creating Lawrences's character. I'm satisfied with how he passed off as crazy, but was shown to be confused as well. I'm happy that some readers even felt sorry for him, which was something I aimed for in his character.
This was my first story that was a murder mystery theme story.
M. Jesse's line "How deep will this rabbit hole go?" from chapter 11 is a reference to Alice in Wonderland.
On the letter that M. Jesse found as a clue to Lawrence being the killer, the name at the bottom of the letter is a name based on one of my professors from my third year of college.
I was inspired to write this story after reading a novel called 'The Cabin'. It was written by Natasha Preston, who started off here on Wattpad and even published some of her original stories on there into novels.
I loved the novel, and to find out that the author started on a writer's website motivated me further as a writer. Thus, "Bloodshed" came to be.
