Chapter 14

A bright light shined in F. Jesse's face. As it did, she started to stir. She felt like she had the worst headache, like she hadn't slept in days. As she opened her eyes, she found herself in a white room.

"Uh... wha..." she groaned.

She did her best to sit up, and as she did, she felt pain in her stomach. F. Jesse put both hands on where her injury was, and she felt bandages wrapped around the injury.

"Jesse!" said a voice.

F. Jesse turned to where the voice came from. It was Reuben. He ran over and gently pulled her into a hug.

"Oh thank goodness you're awake! I was so worried about you!" he cried.

F. Jesse returned the hug, careful not to hurt herself.

"I'm okay, Reuben... I'm okay..." she whispered.

The two stayed in their embrace for a bit, and finally let go.

"Where are we?" she asked him.

"The hospital! I heard about what happened! How you guys were tracking down a killer at the lodge and how he tried to kill you all! We were all worried when we found out that you guys had to be taken here for treatment! Ivor acted like he was having a panic attack when he found out about how badly injured you and your brother were!" said Reuben.

"My brother... Wait, is he okay?!" said F. Jesse.

"He's unconscious. He got beaten badly! But he's stabilized. Ivor's waiting in your brother's room with Harper right now!" said Reuben.

"But my brother's okay? And Lukas and Olivia, where are they!?" said F. Jesse.

"Lukas is okay. His injuries were the least critical. He's been waking up and going back to sleep back and forth. He keeps asking Axel and Petra if you're okay," said Reuben.

"And Olivia?" asked F. Jesse.

"She's stabilized to. The doctors said that you'll all be okay. But... we're all still worried about you. I'm just glad that you're awake, Jesse!" said Reuben.

He hugged her again. F. Jesse returned the hug. The both of them started to cry a bit as they stayed in their embrace.

The two heard the door open, and someone sniffling as they entered.

"Jesse..." said the person.

F. Jesse and Reuben let go. They turned around and saw that it was Ivor and Harper. Ivor walked over and hugged F. Jesse. The two stayed in their embrace, and Ivor even gave F. Jesse a kiss on the forehead.

"It's okay... you're okay..." he whispered to her, trying not to cry.

"I'm okay, dad... I'm awake... I'll be okay..." she whispered back.

Ivor sniffled a bit as he hugged F. Jesse. She heard the enchanter start to sniffle, so she couldn't help but cry. Ivor stroked Jesse's hair to comfort her.

"Harper... can I go see Male Jesse?" Reuben asked her quietly.

"Sure... I'll walk you down the hallway," said Harper.

"No. I'll be okay. I'm a teenager. I can handle the walk..." said Reuben.

He walked down the hallway and to another room. In the room, M. Jesse was lying unconscious in his bed. He was attached to a lot of equipment and had bandages covering his left eye.

"Jesse... I'm sorry that mean man hurt you..." Reuben whispered.

He walked up to his friend and gently held M. Jesse's hand. He started to sniffle and cry.
