I hate Will Solace.
I couldn't phantom why he was "popular" at school, when the truth is... the guy is just a jerk... to me.
But everyone seems to adore him.
Sure, I guess being the Vice-Captain star player of the school's basketball team might be a reason why. Also, he has good grades. Allegedly. Don't know if this particular trait is real. Athlete's privileges can come into play here, because I don't think I ever saw him paying attention in class.
Oh, no. No attention at all.
Instead, he was always focused on bothering me.
His only redeeming "quality", having the face and body of a Greek God, but that all goes to shit when you see he is nothing but an arrogant, imbecile stronzo.
Still, for reasons I'll never understand, every guy wants to be him, or be with him, like most of the girls. Why? Simple. Popularity.
And then there's me, the "Nerd." Perfect GPA, rule-follower, and yeah, glasses. For some reason, wearing glasses brands you as "the smart one," like bad vision is a requirement for intelligence, which it's not.
Nevertheless, "Nerd" is the label given to me by my peers because I care more about my grades than they do.
Truth is, they know nothing about me.
But here's the truth: they know nothing about me. They see what they want to see. To them, I'm the nerd Will Solace has picked on since elementary school, his go-to target for cheap laughs. This idiot has made my life hell for years.
I sigh, rubbing my tired eyes before sliding my glasses back on. Why am I even wasting time thinking about him?
The door to my room swings open, and my dear sister, Hazel, strolls in without asking permission, may I add, and throws herself on my bed. Typical.
"What's up, little brother?" she asks, flipping through the comic book in her hands, not even looking up at me.
"Don't call me that," I mutter, focusing on my homework.
"But you are my little brother," she says in a childish voice, coming up behind me and ruffling to ruffle my hair while hugging me.
"Hazel. Stop." I say, sulking.
She walks away, but not before giving me an unwanted kiss on my cheek.
"Ugh!" I say, wiping my face, making Hazel laugh.
She goes back to the bed, but this time she's sitting up, facing me with a sudden, serious look. "Are you okay? I mean, after what happened yesterday?"
Yesterday, as always, Will was being an idiot, but what else is new?
"Why wouldn't I be okay?" I glance at her, but her face is somber.
She sighs. "Look, I know Will's... an idiot, and his infatuation with you is annoying... scratch that, very annoying!..."
