Chapter 6

I woke up with full energy on that day and I felt the Sun was smiling at me while emitting the warm sunlight to everyone. Today, Rosalie had a day off and she told me that she would guide me and tour the whole city.As the first day I arrived here, it was already dark and I couldn’t see anything.

The first thing I did after I woke up was preparing my things as I was really excited about touring the whole city. I brought my sword along with me and I left my horse tied on a nearby tree. After I finished preparing, I went out to meet Rosalie in front of the house. She was amazed that I knew martial arts and fencing skill. As a result, she forced me to teach her some. In my heart I said, “Maybe it is better for you not to know any of this skills if at the end you will face betrayal of your most trusted friend. I would prefer to have a life like yours. If only you know my sorrow.” I sighed but nonetheless, I agreed to teach her some skills after we finished the tour around the city.

The first image which appeared as I arrived was that the city was really grand and was all surrounded with water. It was just as if the city itself was above the water. There were only some small road to travel and the others were covered by water. The only way to travel around was to use small boats called gondola.

I realized that my horse is not needed so I entrust my horse to a nearby shop. We sat on a gondola and toured the whole city. The decorations were all so beautiful and breath-taking. The structure of the city was like a circle and inside it, there was a sun patterned central. By seeing the view of it, my eyes became wider and in excitement I said, “Rosalie, what a beautiful city. The views and all it is really dazzling. The wind is whispering in my ears. It is so soothing. The water is all sparkling it is so clear and clean. I wonder what it would look like at night.”

“The scenery will be much more dazzling. The water will be like diamonds when the moonlight is reflected on it. You are lucky as today this whole kingdom is having a birthday party for the Prince, Damien. There will be festival in the central as there is the place where the castle is located all commoners are allowed to join.”Rosalie said.

Out of curiosity, I asked her, “Are the princesses going to join the party? After all they have been travelling from distant countries to be his fiancée.” “They will be there. In fact, they are the main guest of this party. I heard that there is a Princess from Roseland who is very pretty and from the rumors I heard, Roseland is a rich country which I immediately realized just by looking into how she dressed. The day she came into our kingdom, she wore a beautiful white gown with gold laces.”Rosalie said.

“What, how could it be?!” I exclaimed. Seeing how her expression changed, I directly calm myself by remembering how soothing the wind sounded. “I mean is the Princess of Roseland really wore those clothes?” I asked. “Without a doubt, I saw it with my own eyes. Why are you so surprised?” she asked. I was really surprised as that gown was the present my father gave on my 15th birthday.

I hesitated for a moment whether to tell her about my story. After all she saved me. Alas, I decided not to tell her and I just shrug and said, “Maybe I am just curious.” She said, “All right if you feel like you want to talk to me, I’ll be there for you. For now let’s just tour the whole city and wait for the festival to begin.”

I was really glad when I heard her say that but I felt a little guilty for not trusting her. Still, I couldn’t tell her as I am afraid that I would be betrayed again. So, meanwhile I’ll just keep quiet about my past. Instead of telling her I just say, “Let’s go and enjoy ourselves. As we should go and work tomorrow right.” She replied, “Of course, Let’s go.”

“That’s I always want to ask you something but I always forgot. How is the Prince look like?” I asked. I thought that I should know something about him if I were to be his future fiancée.

“Hmm… How should I say? He is very handsome and a real gentleman. He knows the best way to make people pleased. Also, he has the ability to refuse people without hurting their feeling. Everyone in our Kingdom would die to marry him but I guess as a royal, he needs to stick with his own duty and responsibility.” she answered.

Then she added, “There are still a lot of good sides of our Prince. I’ll leave it up to your imagination. The thing that I am sure of is that he is a really wonderful Prince and a really eminent Prince.”

“Well, surely you speak of him like a Prince in a fairy tale but I wonder if what you say is true. No matter what, I will find out later. How much more time we need to wait?” I said.

“Emm… There is still some time maybe around 3 hours more. Before I forget, we need to catch something first.” She said. She immediately held me hand and rush through the crowd and reaching the market.

She rushed so quick that soon I became breathless. I couldn’t stand it anymore and I stooped my feet’s movement. She looked back and said, “Come on, we got to be hurry. The shops are closing soon.”

“What are we doing rushing into the market? Are we going to buy something?” I asked breathlessly. “Of course, don’t you know that to attend the Prince’s birthday we need a mask? He announced that already that he wanted to make the party just like masquerade party and that he will wear a mask and mingle with the commoners. He also said that there will be a competition. Whoever can catch and reveal my identity, whether he or she is royal or commoner will be gifted a party in the Royal Palace of Ecrutia.” she said excitedly.

“I see so we are going to the market and buy some mask. OK let’s hurry then. I wouldn’t want you to lose your chance of winning.” I said. She laughed and said, “I am going to buy the most beautiful mask ever. I am going to make the prince attracted to me. Just watch!”

“Is there any use to buy expensive mask?” I wondered. She shrugged and answered, “Duh, did you pay attention to everything I said? The prize will also be gained if the Prince offered you for a dance in three days, in the midnight.”

“You failed to mention it to me just now. All right so let’s go for mask hunting. Though, I am not really interested in it.” I said casually. “Well, by the time you see him, you will fall for him. At that time, don’t take back your words.” She demanded.

Soon, we reached the market and our hunt began. At the end, she bought a golden mask which covered all her face and only left her beautiful ruby eyes. I ended up buying a silver mask which only covered half of my face which suits perfectly with the dress I bought just now.
