Chapter 9

I found myself in my mother’s rose garden. Suddenly, a woman said, “Be careful, sweetheart. An evil plot is coming to destroy two kingdoms all together. I will give you directions and protection. Don’t ever forget to believe in yourself.”  “Who are you? What do you mean by betrayal and evil plot can you give me more details?” before I could finish my questions to her, she vanished into thin air.

“NO! Come back!” I screamed. A shimmering white light appeared and a voice said, “Now, go back to where your friends are. Wake up my sweetheart.” Just like that, I came back and discovered several maids were calling my name and of course he, the prince was there too.

“Daphne, are you here with us?” he asked. I smiled and said, “Of course sorry to worry all of you.” When I saw that Rosalie was crying I immediately added, “Especially you Rosalie it seems that from the first day we met I made you worry lots of time for me. Thank you.” She hugged me tightly and said, “Stupid girl, you are my friend so how can I not worry about you?”

Suddenly, Countess Madeleine entered and said, “I am glad to see you in good condition, Ms. Daphne. However, we cannot delay any further the party is just two days from now and the lesson is not over yet. So please get ready and we will begin.” “Of course, Rosalie and I will be ready within 20 minutes.”

Hurriedly, Rosalie and I prepared ourselves and wore our dresses as today’s lesson will be how to dine with Royal family and ways to drink tea properly. As soon as we finished, we were led to a room full of mirrors. “Before we start our lesson, both of you will be measured for your dresses. This is the famous designer of our Kingdom, Madame Catherine.”

“Greetings ladies, I am pleased to meet all of you. Now could both of you please state your names while I do the fitting for your dresses.” she said. “Sure, Madame, I am Rosalie. How do you do?” said Rosalie. “I am fine. Now if you will please take out your dress and your corset.” she said. After a few minutes, Madame Catherine began to measure her body. Rosalie laughed and said, “It tickles.”

I moved forward to one of the mirrors when suddenly I heard, “Ouch! It’s too tight!” When I turned my back, I found out that the one who spoke was Rosalie and she was complaining about the corset. Madame Catherine shook her head in disapproval and said, “Corset should be tight. It is a weapon for us woman. It shows our beauty and guides us to our wondrous future.”

I laughed when I saw Rosalie complaining. At last my turn came and first I start by introducing myself. Next I took of my clothes and let her measure my body. “You have such slender figure. I see that you are used to wearing corsets, am I right?” she said. I smiled and said, “Not really, maybe it is because I started wearing corsets from when I was still at young age.” In my heart, I said, “I need to be careful or else someday my secret will be revealed by them. Glad that this only last for three days.”

Afterwards, we were led to the dining room where we can see a long classic table decorated in gems, diamonds, gold and silver. Plates, spoons, forks, glass, and other dining equipments were all prepared. They were all made by fine silver with gold linings. My first impression on this dining room was, “wow what a dining room this is!” even thought I expected quite much about Kingdom Ecrutia, I still never imagined something like this. The table was full of flowers especially tulips. Maybe it was because of the Queen that Ecrutia’s national flower was tulip.
