Love Shimmers

Chapter 2

          The journey to Kingdom Ecrutia would begin in another week. The day before I go, I spent it with my father and elder brother. While spending my time with them, I tried to forget about the road I was going to go. However, Time had passed too quickly, soon the day when I should go arrived. I bid farewell to my father, elder brother, my people and the whole kingdom with a heavy heart. Before I go, my father said that I should never forget about the kingdom I came from. With a scroll of advice and all the servants, horses and things my father gave, I left my Kingdom for the first time in my life.

            That day, the sun seemed to shine even brighter than the days when I was inside the castle. Even though I knew my journey would be a tough one, I gave in to my curiosity and excitement. As a princess, I decided to face the future with hope and courage. Just when my journey started, I was acquainted to a maid called Scarlett and Rowan a General who was responsible of my safety.

            Although the journey was as harsh as I thought, I was really glad to have Scarlett and Rowan by my side. They gave me all the confidence I needed as well as kept reminding me of my duty as a princess. In the middle of the journey, we sometimes rest in an inn or just camp over in the forest. However, being a princess I was given and offered the best even in the wilderness. Scarlett and I became great friends. She served me well or should I say too well as she always tends to over protect me. Still, I was glad that I have someone to take care of me.

One night, a fierce storm suddenly came while we were camping in the forest. At first, I was not really aware of that but when a soldier came and told me, I know my first test of courage and wisdom had came. Instantly, I ordered all the soldiers and maids to hide inside my tent as it was the strongest and biggest tent we had. Suddenly, I heard a man groaning in pain. Directly, I went out with a few man and search for him. The time passed so slowly when one of my men called, “Princess, we have discovered a man with his head injured. I think his horse may have stopped suddenly and threw the rider away.” Panicked, I ran there as fast as I could and found an injured man. From his looks, I could tell that he was around 18 years old. He had a light brown hair, hazel and that he was dressed nicely in dark purple clothes with pure white cloak which were stained by blood. Reminded of the situation, I told the soldiers to carry him back to my tent, prepare some food for him as well as a doctor to treat him.

            As I ordered, everything was prepared by the time I got back to my tent. Sadly, the doctor had not arrived yet as the weather was still quite harsh even when the storm had calmed down. Worried, I use my little knowledge about medical to treat him. I thought even if it couldn’t help much at least I could reduce his pain. The treatment lasted the whole night and I was really exhausted.

            Not long after the sun had risen, the silhouette of the doctor approached my tent. While the doctor was treating him, I stayed awake to make sure he was alright. Soon, the doctor finished the treatment and he even praised me for my skillful first aid. Relieved, I fell asleep after the doctor left. Before that, I had asked Scarlett to take care the man I saved.

            Suddenly, I found myself inside a maze. I didn’t know why but I really felt uneasy. Out of confusion, I travelled the maze but I still couldn’t find the exit. The next thing I saw was a situation where two man fighting over something or perhaps someone. I couldn’t figure out the meaning and before I could take any further action, I found myself lying on my bed. With foggy sight, I went outside for some fresh air and recall my dream. Unfortunately, neither could I find out nor recall the two man in my dream.  Disappointed, I went back into the tent and sat beside the bed which that man slept on.

            Out of the blue, he rose from his bed with sleepy eyes. Seeing as he is in a different place, he quickly turned his head around to view his surroundings. Then with a frantic look, he asked, “Who are you and where am I? More importantly where is my horse?” It was quite rude to ask other person’s identity before revealing theirs. Despite of that, I explained that he was injured and I saved him in the middle of the storm, not revealing my identity in the process.”

“How many days have I slept?” he asked.

 “For quite a long time, as long as I recall, it was around three days and your horse is fine. I told one of my servants to take care of it.” I calmly replied. For the next 3 minutes, he kept bombarded me with questions of the current situation, but I could not give a definite answer as my journey had been delayed. Moreover, since I was in the middle of the forest, it was difficult to grasp any information of current events.

When he seemed to want to throw me with more of his questions, I stopped him and said, “I guess you should be patient and drink some soup and water while I explain everything to you. Though, before that, I would like you to introduce yourself first.” Being aware of his clumsiness, he introduced himself as a lost traveler named Eric. Though I could see through his, I ignored him and offered him some water and soup with bread to eat. I kept my words and explained all about the days when he was asleep as well as my identity.

“I am a daughter of a wealthy merchant and I am currently on my way to the Kingdom of Ecrutia. It’s a pleasure to meet you.” I said,

He knew that I lied, yet I did not care the least for he had lied to me. It was only when his suspicious look had left me that I invited him to join us on our journey to The Kingdom of EcrutiaI. At last, his suspicious look left me and he said that he would be glad if he could join us to Kingdom of Ecrutia.

I could hear some murmur from my back where Scarlett and the others were standing. Nonetheless, I allowed and agreed that he could follow us to Ecrutia. Though I clearly stated that before we get going, he should rest and heal himself first. He agreed and allowed me to order some maids to serve him and prepare new clothes for him. I left the tent and told Scarlett to bring my belongings to her tent as I couldn’t possibly sleep in the same tent with him. The darkness then covered the sky and pearl white moonlight shone replacing the golden sunlight. Water was prepared for me when I enter the tent I sharedwith Scarlett and I slowly walk into the water. It felt warm and refreshing. As soon as I finished enjoying the bath, I allowed myself to sleep and the exhausting day came to an end.
