Chapter 9
"Bastian!" I shouted across the corridor. He turned round straight away to find me running up to him. I stopped in time though, don't worry! "What the hell Lottie?" He questioned, angrily. Bastian was twice my height, so it was awkward herding him into the nearest music room. "I need to tell you something." I pushed him into the seat at the piano and shut the door. "Lottie, I was going to find Miss Kinsley. I sort of need to." His mouth turned up at the corners and he attempted to leave, but I stood, spread out in front of the door. "Well, I sort of need to tell you something." He sighed and turned to sit back down. "Make it quick."
I clapped my hands together and wandered into the middle of the room. "I like Declan." Bastian sat silent for a few seconds until he realised that was all I had to say. He stood up, seemingly angry, but I grabbed his arm and with great effort, turned him to face me. "Wait, any advice? What, are you just going to leave it here?" Bastian sighed and looked at me with hatred in his eyes. So much hatred that it managed to completely loosen my grip on his upper arm. "Charlotte. You do realise that you will never be with Declan. He's into skinny, sporty girls. Not girls who are sort of average bordering over weight and self harm, no. Never interrupt any part of my life for something as obvious and as pathetic as that!" He stormed out the room, leaving me stranded and shocked. Why would he say that? Bastian was always the one determined to make me feel better. He was my rock, he was supposed to give good advice and be there, not be an insensitive twat!
As confused as I was, I went to find Caleb. Another twat in the life of Lottie Sykes! I walked into the room slowly, amazed at what Bastian had just said. "Hi Lottie. Looking ugly as ever!" He smiled greatly at me, un aware that "looking ugly as ever" was not a way to greet someone! Jemma was sitting in the seat next to mine and she looked as welcoming and as excited as ever. Until she saw my expression. "Lottie! What's wrong?" She rushed up to hug me and aid me to the seat next to her. "I...why?" I muttered. Jemma placed her hand on my knee and lifted my chin. "Hey, you can tell me anything!" I looked at her, ready to spill and she sat back, waiting. "I told Bastian." Jemma looked confused, the fact that Bastian knew wasn't that exciting for her, so she curved her back and leaned in to hear what he said. "He said I would never be with him. He said he's interested in sporty, skinny girls and that he would never go for some average weight, bordering over weight depressed girl who cuts." I didn't feel the tears rolling down my cheek, not until Jemma wiped them away and pulled me into a hug. She let me go when Leo came in, as she knew Leo would snatch me into one anyway. Which he surely did. "Lotso! Jemmy, what's wrong with Lottie?" He asked, holding me tight. Lotso was another Disney themed nick name Leo had issued me with. It started when we were at his house, me, Skye, Declan, Kitty and Heidi, watching Toy Story 3. Afterwards, I went on a rant on how Lotso was unfairly treated and the fact he was so angry was acceptable as his replacement must've been very hard and upsetting. Leo rolled his eyes multiple times during my speech, until he intelligently called me Lotso... It stuck. Jemma rubbed my back and pulled my fringe down. "Bastian was being a bastard. I'll tell you over Facebook." Leo jolted me away from him and held me by the shoulders at arms length, still, never failing to look me in the eyes. "Listen, Lottie, in moments like this you have to understand that people are dicks. Bastian was being a bastard, I agree fully with Jemmy and I don't even know what he said. But you also have to understand that you have some awesome friends to talk to and to help you. Me, Jemmy, Kitty, Heidi, Skye, Eva, Oliver, De- you get the point." Leo drew out my smile, something he can always succeed in doing. I sniffled a bit and wiped my eyes before turning to Leo and Jemmy and taking off to class. "Wait, Lotso! You're in my class you numpty, wait up!" I turned to Leo who was jogging behind me.
