There's a break in her voice and she takes a deep shuddering breath.
"He.. he took his own life.. a year ago today. I want you to know that none of it is your fault. He stopped taking his medications. He was lying to us about it. He said he was doing better but he wasn't.. I'm sorry.. I should have told you but I couldn't find it in my heart... especially while you were away from family.
