Am I Human?

Chapter 15

"Wow, I'm starving!" I said as I licked my lips, Ryder handing me my tray. Pizza, ice cream, mash potatoes and a glass of apple juice.

Ryder and Jay had just arrived. "You don't mind some extra company, right?" Jay said as he sat down on the couch. Before they had came in, I placed my mask and phone into my drawer. I noticed Jay carried a tray in his arms, I assume it's his  lunch. It wasn't until I took a bite of the pizza then I realized how hungry I was.

I had eaten half of the food on my tray as Jay laughed, "And I thought Ryder was the only one scary when he is hungry." he laughed as Ryder elbowed him. They had barely started their lunch and I was already finishing my ice cream.

"So Ashley, you live with the humans. What do you about them? I've never sends a human before, the king never send me to the human world for quests, I'm probably too special for him to risk on quests." Jay said, smiling to himself.

Ryder shook his head, "The king doesn't want to risk sending you know quests, afraid your stupidity might mess it up." he ate a spoon of mash potatoes.

I giggled as the two boys started talking about whose more stupid than the other. Their both the same.

"I heard that!" Ryder glared at me playfully. I stuck out my tongue and put my tray down next to me.

"Leaving with the humans are cool, and thought I was one for 15 years." I answered Jay's question he had asked earlier as the memories of Sam and my parents came flooding back into my brain. I smiled at the thoughts and the fun I had with them before meeting Allison. "Humans look exactly like us, but without the extra wings, horns and tail some of the Xtras have."

"I was wondering, Jay, what type of power do you have?"
I asked, curiously.

He smirk and snapped his fingers, Ryder's apple juice started floating out of the glass. Jay opened his mouth and the sweet liquid floated in. "Hey!" Ryder took Jay's drink and before he could even drink it, the juice disappeared. Ryder turned towards Jay and saw the juice floating into his mouth.

"I can also have super speed." he said as he disappeared and reappeared next to me.

"Cool. We should have a race next time, running is also one of my powers." I stood up.

A knock interrupter our conversation and Ryder went to get the door, but Jay got to the door first using his speed. He smiled sheepish as he opened the door, revealing a tall, blond hair guy. He smiled as he saw Jay and Ryder but the small slowly faded as he saw my face. Before he could scream, Ryder quickly covered the new comers mouth. "She's Mad Hatter, not Cheshire Cat." the blonde calmed down as Ryder released his hand from his mouth.

"Sorry, Miss, you just look alik-" Ryder cut him off, "She knows, Zachariah, get to the point."

"The king wants to see you." He said, looking towards me. Well of course the king wants to see me, why wouldn't he? The sister of the famous serial killer, who wouldn't?

I could see Ryder gave me a 'seriously' look as I knew he was reading my mind. Jay nodded at the messenger and send him off while Ryder got up and took his last bite of his ice cream.

"Well, we'll be leaving you alone for you to look more 'presentable' if you want to see the king. And do it quick, we don't want to keep the king waiting, " he said as he looked at what I'm wearing.

"So you're saying I'm not allowed to wear pants and a simple shirt to the see the king?" I looked at myself, satisfied in what I'm wearing.

"What Ryder is trying to say is that you ate too fast and now you have some sauce on your shirt." Jay said, smiling as he walked over and picked my tray up. I search my shirt and found a red stain. Must be tomato sauce from my pizza. I didn't even noticed it, I guess I really was hungry. Ryder shook his head and took his and Jay's tray and used his leg to opened the door.

"See you in awhile," he said smiling as he left with Jay by his side. The door closed automatically and I opened my wardrobe searching for a much more 'presentable' shirt Ryder wants.

I took out a navy blue blouse and tried it on. I looked into the mirror, no wonder Ryder said that, my hair is a mess. I went to the bathroom and brough out a brush and started brushing my brown hair, straightening the parts that were out if place. I stared at the mirror, noticing that my eyes were not the same anymore. The hazel brown eyes were now flaming red, like.. Allison's.

I shook my head, so what if I look like Allison? Red eyes, so what? It's not like we're totally identical, there has to be some differences. Some people would be overjoy, finding out their long lost twin, but for my case, I would rather leave it unknown.

A knock then interrupts my thoughts. "Hatter! I'm here!"
I could hear Ryder's voice from outside. I still wasn't used to the name Hatter.

"Hey Ryder, do you want to... "
I could hear Jay's voice too, but the he starts to whisper. I put my ears on the door, but his whispers were softer than I expected.

I took the keys and put them into my pocket along with my phone. I opened the door and saw only Ryder standing outside.

"Where's Jay, I heard him." I said as I shut my room door, walking into the hallways, looking left and right for the blue hair boy. "There's no point hiding, she knows." Ryder sighed as he called out, leaning against the wall.

"You can show now, Zac." I heard Jay's voice and turned towards that direction. He slowly appeared while his arms were over the blonde's shoulder. Well, I guess I know his power.

The walk was quite, I was nervous and the silence wasn't helping. Jay had stayed back to help Zac with some errand and said he'll catch up with us later. I could feel the cold wind blew past my face as we walk down the hallways. Someone had forgot to close the window. A bird stood there, watching us walking, it's dark black eyes dugged into me.

"You're nervous, aren't you?" Ryder asked, breaking the silence between us as he shooed the bird away. I nodded. "It's just meeting the king of this world is kinda, you know." I laughed softly.

"The king is nice, trust me. I've seen him many times." he said as he used his strength to close the window.

"Well of course, you're on of his men."

"You'll work things out with him." he sent me a warm smile as our eyes met. "You're eyes, the colour has changed"

"Yeah it's starting look more like Allison..." I mumbled. I was afraid that if I do have the same insanity as her, will be able to control it?

"Don't worry I know you can." he said assuring my thoughts, "I believe in you."
