Chapter 7 : Hope
I'm not surprised, nor am I upset. He doesn't have Olivier's name properly written on him or even engraved. I have no say in how he should live his life, but I'm damn sure it's not with that bitch Jessica.
"Prue," a voice said in a loud tone, "Why are you just standing there? Come on."
I shrugged my shoulders, and looked over to see Whiskey Lover hadn't left either.
"What do you want?"
"Oh nothing," he chirped, starting to leave. "Just waited for you to wake up."
When he was no longer in my sight I aimed my attention to the door only yards away and walked, more like jogged, all the way to the front door. I didn't want to waste time ringing the doorbell so I pulled out a key and started jiggling the doorknob until it clicked.
"Are we having a race because you cheated." Susan whined, hopping towards my side. I opened the door, swinging it wide open.
"Hey."
I closed the door behind me and entered, leaving that Susan outside. I rushed up the stairs as graceful as a gazelle in the fields with every step till I reached the top. On my left was my room but when I started walking towards it, someone called my name.
"Did you and Susan have fun at the park?" She smiled, leaning against the door of the bathroom. "There's some rice and bell pepper soup in the kitchen if you want some."
"Okay." I was trying to end this conversation as quick as possible by ending it with a dead word. But, of course, she kept on talking and talking. This was wasting my time. If this keeps up I won't be able to tell Olivier. I'm running out of time.
"Where's Susan?"
"She fell in a hole and had to be sent in a wheelchair home. She's at the front door crying to see you and make her feel better." I lied, laughing in my mind. She looked me in the eye to see, no, to hope that what I was saying was a joke.
"Are you-" I interrupted her, before she could finish.
"Hurry!" I hissed, trying not to grin.
Her eyes dulled from radiant beauty to horrified toddler. Within only seconds she flew right past me and ran down the stairs, skipping steps.
Finally, I walked over to the bedroom door and gently closed the door behind me, locking it.
"God." I sighed, reaching over for my phone while I laid on the bed. I clicked the power button on my Galaxy IV S and strolled down to contracts, then tapped on Olivier's name.
It rang for few minutes, and he finally picked up.
"Hey Prue!" he cheered, "What's up?"
"We're going to the library tomorrow."
"Why?" he questioned.
"Because your man is being taken by a woman, and the only way to defeat her is with you," I answered, saying each word strong and firm. I could hear him sighing in the background. Was he thinking or falling to sleep? This wouldn't be the first time he fell asleep when I was talking to him.
"Prue, why are you doing this? Why does it matter if I end up with Jordan? I'm a guy and so is he. I truly doubt he would break up with Jessica for guy, knowing him. He won't want to live a troublesome life where he had to do something that would force him to be something he is not. Prue, if you truly do care for me, drop this whole project." He said in calm but serious tone.
"Dick." I muttered, turning myself over on my bed. "You're not in control of what I do or what I'm planning. If you don't like what I'm doing, then don't be my friend. Leave me and go live a life with limits and rules just like your parents." I stopped, realizing that I shouldn't have said that. It wasn't right to say that. There was a long pause that seemed to last for years, until he answered me.
"I'll come to the library, but if it doesn't work, will you drop it?"
"I make no promises." I stated and hung up the phone.
No promises, no memories, and no tears are what I should have promised because what happened next only made our situation double in size.
