I heard a different voice coming from behind me, "Allen! What's up?!"
It was a perfect day here in Arkansas. It wasn't too hot, not too humid....but surprisingly perfect for a September night. It was the first weekend of the month and like always, everyone was at the fair.
I carried on talking to my group of girls as the stranger approached my friend, Allen. All of my friends were staring...and when I say all....I mean all my friends were staring. Suddenly they all fled in a giggle fest towards the same direction.
Then I turned around.
You know that controversy about the whole love at first sight thing? It's real, my friend. It's real.
He was tall....and lean..but he filled out his ACU's pretty nicely. And that smile, that smile. I was staring. Or gawking. Which ever is less embarrassing.
"Sadie, Sadie? Are you okay?" Allen shook me out of my daze.
"Huh? Yeah..I'm good."
"This is my friend--"
"-Excuse me! Are you getting on or not? I need three people per glider here!" The rude guy running the hang glider ride cut in. Before I knew it I was strapped in between Allen and the yet-to-be-named soldier.
He shot me a cool smile between the harnesses. Lawrdy that smile. "I don't believe you caught my name, I'm Chase."
"Hi, I'm Sadie." My voice failed me and it came out more like a sqeak.
"So you're shy? Cute. Need me to hold your hand? You seem scared." He winked. How lucky could I be?
My sarcasm got the best of me, "No thanks darlin'. But you do look a little pale."
*cough cough* Oh crap, I forgot about Allen. I giggled a little louder than normal, and the ride jumped to a start- making me grab a hold of Chase's out-stretched hand. He let out a quite laugh which sent butterflies through every part of me.
The ride went by in a blur, literally. I squeezed tight to his hand, and he squeezed right back.
We stumbled out of the gate and stood in the clearing.
"Okay, I have two questions for you," Chase cooed. "Firstly, do you like pizza?"
"Pssh, yeah."
"Alright," he grinned again and took off his sun glasses. Holy crap, his eyes were a gorgeous deep brown. "Secondly, do you like video games?"
I laughed, hard. "What kinda girl do you think I am? Heck yeah I play--"
Before I finished my sentence he pulled something from his pocket, and in front of everyone.....got down on one knee...
