Present Day, January 16, 2036.
"Did we lose them?" Ms. Ferris asked her daughter through sweaty hands and a stern voice. Alexandria looked behind her seat through the back window. The window displayed the outside quite clearly, and there were no problems with fog, or dust or anything of the sort. So Alexandria was able to see just fine. That van seemed like it had other plans, and Alexandria was sure that they left them. The van was no where to be seen, and there were just a few cars along the road. She leaned back against the car seat.
"No." She said firmly, but with a shaky voice. Her head was pounding, her hands were shaking. Alexandria couldn't believe what was going on! First they had to move from California, all the way across the country, and then Alexandria was being hunted, and now she knew why. She was one if those mutants! How could this ever happen to her? Why wouldn't her mother say anything to her about this, and how could she just cope with this?
She couldn't that's how.
All of this seemed like it was a dream. Perhaps she was inside coma, or she was in one of those sleeping chambers and doctor's decided to put her asleep. She pinced herself to see if she was dreaming. Ouch. No she wasn't dreaming. She looked down at her phone, which was just a metal stick, but if you swiped your hand over it; there would be a cool holographic screen.
She picked it up, but her hands were shaking as she did so and waved her right hand over the phone. It turned on and said "welcome, Alexandria." She selected the mirror app, and decided to take a look at her face and arms to see if there was anything wrong with her body. She asked it to scan her, and it said that she was fine. She placed the phone down after waving her hand over it again to close the screen.
"M-mom?" She asked, startled and confused. Her mother looked over a few times, but didn't respond. Did she even know?
"Mom what was that?"
"That was a problem... the reason why I wanted to leave Timber Creek."
Alexandria tilted her head, dumbfounded by the answer. She scratched her head and wondered what she meant by that.
"Is there something that I did wrong?" She asked.
Ms. Ferris shook her head. "No sweetheart. Everything's fine. There's just that a man has been after you ever since you've been born. He knew about you. Professor Xander was a long distant cousin of the famous Professor Xavier. After the last generation of X-MEN had died; Xander used that time to gather up a new army of mutants to take over the world, but one thing stood in his way. Or one person."
Alexandria frowned. She watched her mom as she spoke. She wasn't kidding. Which made Alexandria feel even more worse about herself. What did she have to do with the world? She was sure that she really had nothing to do with it.
"This can't be happening mom. After all of these years, how did you keep that mad man out of our way?" The teen looked out the window now. Watching the horizon as they quickly passed through the freeway.
"I can explain when we find the first stop that we can find." Mr. Ray wasn't even on Alexandria's mind anymore, and however nice he seemed. He did some bad things to. Especially to a gang that obviously needed the money, but also needed to kidnap Alexandria. They couldn't have confronted them before taking them hostage? There must be cops, and Pulse Officers all over Ohio.
If only these cars could go faster. Alexandria watched billboards change every few seconds as they drove across the freeway. She couldn't sit in this car any longer. What was her mother keeping from her? How many other secrets was she holding back? Did she know her father? Was he one if the bad guys that wanted Alexandria?
Her head was pounding. Her hands were still shaking. The nerves in her body were constantly fluctuating.
Then all of a sudden a wave of exhaustion dripped over her. Her head felt heavy. Even after a full night's sleep (even if it was uncomfortable), Alexandria suddenly felt tired.
"Mom, I think I'm taking a nap..." Her mother looked worried as she was watching the road ahead of her. She needed to get to the next exit, and hopefully make her way towards a motel or something. At least, she k ew some people who could help. Ms. Ferris wondered how long she could last without being detected by Professor Xander.
