Present Day. January 17th 2036.

"Got your bags? Food? Let's go!" Ashely said to Alexandria with a nod before the two went out to their car. The trip to Maine wasn't supposed to be like this, it wasn't supposed to be like this at all; especially when there are mad men chasing after them because they think that one person can save the world. That one person being Alexandria. However, there was nothing wrong with the world except The Pulse. A company that hunts down mutated beings and puts them through excessive testing that could nearly end someone's life.

"Mom, we're we going?" Alexandria was confused and distressed at the same time. She couldn't handle this amount of pressure and she definitely didn't want to worry about random men chasing her.

"You'll be safe once we get you to them." Ms. Ferris explained as she activated her car with the keys when leaving the Red Dragon Inn (she paid for their stay the night before so everything was fine). The car doors opened upwards slowly, and the Ferris' tossed their bags in the car and hopped in.

"Give me your phone." Ms. Ferris demanded with a cordial mixture in her voice. Alexandria did as she was told and handed the phone to her mother. She grabbed the phone and her own and tossed them outside leaving them in the dust.

Alexandria was sitting in the front seat with a furrowed brow and an eye-opening expression. She was told the story about the hospital when she was born, but she can't wrap her brain around the fact that that man will do whatever it takes to get her. Because he thinks that she's the key to saving Earth.

Even though, the only problem with Earth is The Pulse. Which doesn't make sense, however with The Pulse running the world it makes it difficult for at least sixty six percent of the population because superpowers only activate under a large amount of stress. As long as people had someone in their family who were related to someone with superpowers or have been naturally exposed to areas around Earth that could have given them superpowers.

"Mom?"

"Not now sweetheart." Her mother replied keeping a Keen eye around the streets watching out for people. They turned onto the expressway.

"We'll reach our destination soon. Just please believe me and eat your breakfast. Drink your coffee. You'll be needing your energy."

Again. Alexandria did as she was told, not wanting to cause her mother any more stress because they were both heavily stressed with the world. She was surprised that The Pulse have yet to be searching for them.

Moments later, they arrived to another building further into town. It was sort of like a night club building, but it was daylight outside so maybe they weren't busy? Alexandria wondered what they were doing at a building that strangely looked like a night club, but as they pulled into the parking lot of the building. It didn't look too bad, it was a bricked building. With modern exterior as well, and a sign jutting out with a neon glow to it, but the lighting was of course, off. The sign read The Beating Heart.

It was a funny name and it made Alexandria think about The Pulse when she read that sign.

"Okay sweetheart. We're here." Ms. Ferris explained. They were in a town called Greensburg in Ohio and now they were in the downtown portion of the city where it's obviously busy and definitely crowded. However, it was looking quite nice all the same. Alexandria tightened her grip on her coffee with both hands and stayed close to her mother. She feared for the worst, and she wondered if her life was ever going to be normal again...

Hey guys sorry for the extremely long wait. I've had a writer's block for awhile and decided to get back into the swing of things. School is almost over and I'm hoping to write some more! If Greensburg is an actual city in Ohio I'm sorry. XD

I just need a fictional name so that I can have my own city to describe. Especially when this is a futuristic story in a sense....

I hope you guys like it. I am open to constructive criticism and I would appreciate the big star and also if you follow me I will do my best to follow back. :)

Anyways happy Easter!
