Chapter 1
Louis
October 14, 2013
“El,” a smile automatically appears on my face as I see the familiar head of brown hair enter the door. I approach her, knowing that Harry is in the living room, and peck her lips lightly. “How are you, love?” My hand finds its way around her waist, holding her firmly to my side.
“Great thanks, Lou.” I tip my head against hers as we enter the living room. We sit on the couch, El between Harry and myself.
“Hey Haz,” El ruffles Harry’s curls slightly, flashing me a sympathetic smile quickly. Harry groans, causing a larger smile to appear for me.
“El, how are you?” Harry half smiles and speaks with sarcasm lacing his voice. Harry and Eleanor used to get on really well, of course they did because Harry introduced us, but recently Harry’s been quite cold to her. I could never be rude to El; she’s far too nice. That, and I don’t want to lose her as a friend.
El and I first became friends through Harry, and when I asked her to be my girlfriend, I made sure she knew what she was getting herself into.
“El, I have a favor. It’s, um, it’s quite a large favor. Feel one hundred percent free to decline, but I have to ask.” I asked over a bowl of crisps and a game of Monopoly.
“Sure, I won’t say yes or no yet. What is it?” Her smile was wide.
“El, I’m gay.” I had said quickly, wanting to get it over with. She nods, urging me on. I sigh quickly, glad. “This might sound really selfish, I guess it is, but I think I love Harry. I mean, ever since X-Factor he just…” I trailed off, nervous as hell.
“I understand. You love Harry, that’s great,” she offered and I nodded.
“Yeah, and, like, I don’t think he’s gay. He doesn’t know that I am; you’re the only one who does. Not even my family does. I just… I don’t know what the fans will think if they know I’m gay,” I paused for a second, only to be cut off by El.
“You want us to date, to pretend to date, to hide your sexuality?” I nod sheepishly, looking down. El runs her hand through my hair, forcing me to look at her. “Hey, that’s fine. Anything for you, man. One thing, will we have to kiss?” I had laughed uncontrollably for a few seconds, thanking the lord for El being so awesome.
“Oh my god, thank you so much. Yes, probably, but only in public. If you please and find that it’s the right time, you can find yourself an actual boyfriend, I won’t mind. Plus, it’ll never ruin our friendship. A little kissing never hurt anyone, right?” My fingers were secretly crossed behind me.
