Chapter 3
Louis

“He just, I don’t know, he doesn’t seem to get it! It’s so frustrating!” I groan, slamming me head into the pillow, while El pats my back gently from behind me.
“Calm down, it’ll be fine. Did you see his reaction when you said that you could teach him some things? He’s so gone for you.” El smiles and messes up my hair. I fix it up quickly before replying.
“But he’s not gay! The amount of girl’s he’s been out with and everything. It’s obvious he’s not gay! Even if he was, why on earth would he like me?” I exclaim, flopping my arms about in annoyance.
“Louis, you’re a really nice guy. If I didn’t know you were gay and we weren’t such good friends, I’d totally be interested in you. You’re a physically attractive guy and a nice guy with respect for everyone, if that’s not a perfect combination I don’t know what is!” El explains. I nod my head slowly.
“I guess. Thanks. If I didn’t know you well enough, I’d think you were interested in me!” El laughs and smacks my head gently. I just mutter a few obscenities under my breath and let my head rest on the pillow whilst pulling up the duvet. Due to the fact that El and I are so close friends and because we’re kind of expected to because we’re “dating”, we sleep in the same bed.
“G’night,” El pats my head yet again and shuffles into the duvet.
“Night.”
An hour later, I’m still not asleep. My mind’s going around and around and around, endlessly maddening me. With an umpteenth groan, I roll over (again for the thousandth time) and pat El on the shoulder. She groans and mumbles like the total lady she is and waves her arms around, somehow hitting me square in the nose. Chuckling, I shake her shoulder again.
“Whaaaaat?” A vague sound comes from the back of her throat.
“Hi.” I sheepishly smile as she opens her eyes. I flick on the light, causing her to wince.
“What? Why are you waking me up at obscene hours of the night? Or morning, I don’t know.”
“I can’t sleep.”
“Jesus, what am I? Your mother?”
“Thankfully not.”
“What am I supposed to do? Just ‘cause your brain won’t shut up.”
