Chapter 2
Harry
October 14, 2013
“They’re so cute. I can see them getting married one day.” Liam coos, looking out the window at the couple kissing whilst covered in mud. I sigh loudly.
“Yeah, cute.” I agree half-heartedly, leaning gently up against Zayn as he too looks out the window with a look of admiration on his face. Niall, too, is watching the pair, smiling lightly. I mean, I understand their fondness of the pair, but can’t they get on with life now? Can’t the see how miserable it makes me? Sure, I’m glad they’re both happy; they’re both my friends, after all, Eleanor less so because she clearly stole Louis away from me, but that’s not the point. Having a gawk at a supposedly cute duo is perfectly okay, but to this extent? Yeah, that pisses me off.
I’m fully aware I don’t have ownership over him, but I feel as if he owes me that much. I’ve stayed his best friend through thick and thin, rough and smooth, ignoring my intense feelings for him for his sake; the sake of his relationship. It annoys me how blind Louis is, always taking me at face value and rarely looking into my eyes to see the obvious misery. That all started when Eleanor came along. She’s changed him, and I know that she was my friend originally, but I’m almost positive she’s changed since then. Unfortunately though, because she really was a really good friend of mine. I guess people change.
“Can we get food?” Zayn breaks the gawk-session when he speaks up, placing his hand on his gut. “I don’t know if it’s just me, but I haven’t eaten in ages.”
“It’s just you. I had a massive lunch only two hours ago. I’m fine.” Liam inputs.
“Same ‘ere, though it was no doubt smaller than Liam’s, but it was large nevertheless.” Niall’s gone on some strange form of diet, dieting at certain times of the day. I have to remember to ask him about that when we have our next heart-to-heart conversation. “Haz?”
“Nah, I’m fine,” I offer, turning my attention back the kissing couple outside who’ve somehow moved from the ground almost beneath the patio to the tool shed.
“Right, H, I’m raiding your fridge. I’ll be back.” I nod, my mind otherwise occupied with Lou and El. Somehow, they’ve managed to begin making out in my backyard and have spent the launch of the afternoon here. Shaking my head, I turn my attention the two warm bodies around me - Niall and Liam. They’re chatting informally, slowly making their way towards the living room.
Liam and Niall sit down on the couch, and I manage to wedge myself in between. Amazingly, their conversation has turned to Louis.
