Chapter 15
Louis
October 23, 2013
I leave Harry’s room, my head hanging low. It might’ve been an indirect victory, but I feel like I’ve lost. He could literally take years to forgive me. I slip back inside my room and lean against the door with an exasperated breath. I need to call El. I don’t even care about the time differences. She knows of everything that’s happened up to this point, so I’ve got to fill her in. I take out my phone and open the phone app, clicking on her name at the top of my favourites.
“You’d better have a bloody good reason for calling me up at… Goddamn, 1am.” She grumbles, voice thick with sleep and faux annoyance.
“Well, kind of. You know of everything that’s happened, yeah? How we weren’t on speaking terms?” I ask.
“What? We’ve been on speaking terms! What are you talking about?” She asks in shock.
“Not us, you dumpling. Me and Harry.” I raise my eyebrows at my weird insult.
“Oh, right. Sorry, still asleep. After all, it’s 1am.” She snarls jokingly. “Kidding. What’s the deal?” She yawns.
“He’s partly forgiven me. I told him I’m gay.”
“WHAT?!” She screeches. “Shit. Probably woke up the neighbors there. So me and him know now… shouldn’t you get around to telling your family?”
“Not the point, El. The point is, I told him I loved him and, sure, he seemed exasperated, but he accepted it eventually and he just asked for some time. I think, like, he loves me. I don’t want to get my hopes up or anything, but El!” I let out a very gay-sounding squeak, and El laughs.
“I’m excited for you, too. But I’m fully awake now, I‘m not going to get back to sleep. Entertain me.” She says, and I laugh.
“That sounds oddly sexual.” I point out with a chuckle.
“Get your bloody mind out of the gutter, you fucker. Tell me the Larry details, though.”
“I’ll have you know that’s confidential, Miss Calder.” I grin, teasing.
“Oh, get off your high-horse. Spill.” She begs.
“Fine.” I proceed to tell her the entire story with her frequent interjections of “ooh!” and “saucy.” She’s honestly so weird.
“God, you’ve bored me to death, dude.” El yawns, and I look at the clock. 2pm. We’ve been on the phone for two hours, and it’s 3am over there. We’ve discussed the whole thing, chatted, bantered, and agreed that I’ll tell my family as soon as I see them next.
“Sorry babe. I’ll let you go back to sleep and dream of, I don’t know, Chris Hemsworth or whoever it is you want to dream of.” El laughs at my later comment.
“More like Zachary Levi, but that’s totally beside the point.” I laugh maniacally, closing my eyes.
“Thanks for getting my mind off things. I’ll talk to you at some later point.” I farewell.
“No worries. Thanks for keeping me awake for two hours at obscene hours in the morning. Just kidding. Love you, mate. Bye, and good luck with the whole relationship – or lack there of – fiasco.”
