Chapter 9
Louis
October 16, 2013
He’s heavy; I’ll give him that, that’s for sure. Especially when he’s sitting on my lap, curled up and sleeping, for more than three hours. He really must’ve been tired, because he never sleeps for this long solidly on a flight. It’s weird I know that, but I don’t care. To be fair, the only thing I care about now is my need to piss, and how my left leg has gone to sleep because of Harry’s concrete weight on me.
I’ve been chanting to myself ten more minutes, ten more minutes, in concern to my need to pee and my dead leg, but it’s almost reached the last straw. An hour waiting to piss is a long time.
Finally, I’ve had it. With a frustrated groan, I lift Harry up (surprisingly easily; he’s just dead weight, is all), and replace him gently on the seat from where I’ve moved. Right, time to pee. I rush as quickly as I can to the toilet and back again, strangely not wanting to leave the sleeping Harry alone. He looks so young when he sleeps, but I guess everyone does. Either way, you notice the firmness in his face when he’s awake once you’ve seen him sleeping, and it’s kind of worrying. He’s so young, and so stressed. He’s a beautiful person and doesn’t deserve any stress.
Look at me, being all sentimental. It’s a rarity. When I arrive back at my seat, Harry’s in a state of waking up.
“Oh, hi Louis.” He says, dragging up his eyelids in that way that you do when you’re pulling a face. He does that when he’s struggling to wake up.
“Hey, mister.” I reply, sitting down in his seat.
“Oh, sorry about taking up your seat. How did you-?” He pauses.
“You were sleeping on my lap for a few hours, and I needed to piss and my leg was asleep, so I lifted you up and went to revive my leg and pee.”
“Right,” he’s deep in thought for a moment. “Do you know if we’ve got conjoining rooms in Australia or if we’re all separate?” He asks, and I have to think a minute.
“I’m not sure…” I trail off, wondering why the hell he cares. I mean, sure, he always jumps at the opportunity at sleeping alone, but he’s never asked so early on. Normally he just goes with the flow.
“Oh, coz if they’re conjoining, could we room, maybe? It’s just that I slept really well then, and I haven’t been of late.” He’s asking to sleep with me…
“Sure thing, Haz.” I agree easily, because I’m not going to give up that chance. “Of course we can.
