I was getting ready for work while Jaya was blaring music in the living room. Now that she was promoted to assistant manager at Emilio's, her hours were more flexible so she was spending more time painting for her art show.
"It's coming along really well," I said in awe of her creation
"Really? I was just about to punch a hole through it" She said solemnly as she tried to rub some of the dried paint from her hands.
"Why? It looks incredible"
"It's not the painting...it's just...what if I made a mistake with this whole follow my heart thing and maybe I'm not meant for this. My parents have disowned me and they're not even coming to the art show"
"Jayashree Sharma" I playfully gasped "is that doubt I hear? You love this I know you do. It shouldn't matter what your parents or anyone think about it. You should love what you do even if you don't get the support you need from your parents besides you got me and Troy"
"And I appreciate it. Thanks for the pep talk" Jaya said as she hugged me "shit now I gotta find my outfit. What time are you coming?"
"After work"
"Ok well just text me when you're on your way"
"Will do," I said

As I was cleaning the tables. I found myself thinking about Alexander. I missed him so much. I never missed someone like this. How can someone, I've only known for a few months, have such an effect on me...It was kind of like I was falling in lo- nah maybe it was just lust. He's attractive, funny and charming but what could he possibly see in me? I must mean something to him. I met his family and not to mention his father is a fucking king, I'm sure he doesn't bring any girl to meet his father or does he?
I pulled out my phone and searched up 'Prince Alexanders previous girlfriends'
Emma Desmond
Kelsey Marley
Daisy Gram
Mia Bell
The list goes on. They all looked similar. White, blond, thin and blue eyed. It was such a contrast from myself
His last relationship lasted 2 years with a girl named Aria Taylor. According to the article, Alexander ended things because he was in the army and it put a strain on their relationship. Aria was pretty, she had lots of money and came from an aristocratic family, while I'm from New Jersey and don't have a dime to my name.
Am I really that desperate? I'm not going to be that girlfriend. Girlfriend. Its have been a while since I've been called that. I'm somebodies girlfriend and that somebody is a legit prince. Fuck an Aria Taylor. Zara Palmer was here to stay.
"Zara!" Emilio blared "no cell phones!" He said. He just did the absolute most he didn't have to yell.
I scoffed and put my phone in my pocket.

I arrived at Jaya's art show.
"Sorry I'm late," I said as I engulfed Jaya in a hug
"No you're just in time," she said
"Hey babe" Troy said as he hugged me
"Hey" I greeted
"I'm so nervous," Jaya said as she anxiously rubbed her shaking hands together
"This is all your hard work paying off, don't be anxious be in the moment," I said
I examined Jaya's painting. This one was my favorite. It's called 'Outside Looking In.' my best friend was so talented.
Someone covered my eyes. I felt the hands, I gasped when I identified them and spun around. It was Alexander. I leaped into his arms
"What are you doing here?" I asked
"I'm here to see you and support Jaya" he smiled
"Aww," I said as I kissed him
"Eck...get a room" Troy murmured
"Don't be jealous" I whispered as I grabbed Alexanders hand
"I'll buy those three paintings," Alexander said catching all of us off guard
"T-Three?" Jaya asked
"Yeah," he said nonchalantly
"Um ok," Jaya said still in disbelief "I'll pack them up and send them to you"
"Prince Alexander can we take a picture with you?" a young girl asked
"Sure, quickly before anyone sees" he whispered. I stood aside as I watched them take the picture. I loved how he interacted with people he was such an extrovert well I guess his job description requires him to be.
Next, a few people came over to shake his hand then soon more people came rushing up to greet him.
"We have to go," he said as he grabbed my hand
"We're leaving," I said to Jaya and Troy
"Yeah you guys better," Troy said pointing to the swarm of people running down the hallway
I waved them goodbye and followed Alexander to the backdoor exit which we were bombarded by screaming fans and paparazzi. The bodyguard shielded us as we went inside the waiting car.
"You all right?" he asked
"Yeah, it was just a little scary..." I said honestly
"I know" was all he could say as he held my hand.
We went back to my place and ordered a pizza. We sat on the bedroom floor and ate
"No seriously, tell me how you guys did it without me knowing," I said as I grabbed a slice of pizza
"I remember you telling me something about Jaya having an art showing for so I thought that'd be the best time to surprise you"
"So sneaky. Aren't you suppose to be in New Zealand?"
"Yeah I might have taken a detour," he said nonchalantly
"Your father is not going to be happy about that," I said as I took a bite of the pizza
Alexander shrugged his shoulders "He'll be fine" and I giggled
"You got pizza sauce," he said gesturing
"Where?" I asked
"Right there," he said as he used his thumb to remove the sauce from my chin then placed his thumb in his mouth
"You're trying to tempt me" I said
"Is it working?" he asked cheekily
"Yes," I said as I crawled over and kissed him
