Keith was an art major in college. He also took animation as a minor. He wanted to get a job at a studio that he felt like he would fit in at, or even make his own studio.. He wanted to make characters that he loved, he related to, and maybe.. just maybe other people would too.
He was heading to his dorm after class, most of his classes were in the afternoon. He unlocked the door with his key, but before he could even turn the knob, Lance burst through the door, running into Keith. He fell to the floor, grunting as his back hit the solid floor of the hall. Lance made some sort of panicked noise as they both hit the ground, Keith cushioning Lance's fall.
Keith looked up, seeing Lance on his chest as he pushed himself up with his elbows. They were staring face to face, purple eyes meeting blue eyes. He groaned and pushed Lances face away, meanwhile avoiding his gaze by turning his head, "What the hell man.." he grumbled, using his hands to push himself up into a sitting position which ended in foreheads colliding.
Keith winced and held his head, mumbling curses under his breath, "Lance! Get up!" he raised his voice, annoyed at the blue eyed Cuban. He saw Lance shift to stand, his hand holding his head as well, "Shit- Sorry!" he quickly apologized. "Sorry, Keith- I'm late for a date I have!" he said as he stood, meanwhile still taking the time to hold out his hand to help Keith up.
Keith looked up at him, grabbing his hand. Of course it was a date. Lance was always going out on dates anymore. He missed his best friend. They had gone through everything together, friends since.. well, since kindergarten.
After Lance helped Keith stand, he smiled a bit and pat Lance's shoulder, "Go get 'em tiger," he said, a small smirk on his face. Lance nodded with determination, running off and waving, "Hasta la later, Keith!" he shouted as he ran backwards, giving a two finger salute.
Keith felt his heart flutter, he laughed and smiled, "Watch where you're going!" he called, hands cupping around his mouth. Once Lance was out of sight, he went in the dorm, closing the door behind him. He's been feeling.. different about Lance lately.
He always likes to see him smile, his ocean blue eyes always seem to shine and sparkle when he gets excited. The way he puts his hand on his hip when he says something sassy.. when he, Pidge, and Hunk go hang out at the bar-
Keith shook his head out of his thoughts, letting out a soft sigh. He plopped his bag on the floor beside his bed and flopped down on the bed himself, staring at the ceiling.
When he and Lance were kids, they always talked and joked about being alphas. Telling each other how great it would be to have that much power and strength in society's norms. To not be looked down upon.
That was very short lived.
When Keith was sixteen, he went through his first heat cycle. He was so upset as he went through the worst week of his life, crying through most of it. He had seething cramps that never seemed to go away, he was hot and sweaty, but also cold. Worst of all, he needed relief.
Lance, however, did turn out to be an alpha. He had boasted about it to Keith after he had gone through a week of hell, suppressants, and tears.
That didn't separate the boys though. Their differences were only put to the side. They were inseparable.
When Keith started his heat, Lance never teased him about it or tried to take advantage of him. A thing most alphas tend to do when an omega is in heat. Some omegas even get raped in heat because alphas can barely control themselves from the strong smelling pheromones they emit in heat.
Keith mostly used heat suppressants, staying tucked away in his room for a week, or maybe even over that if he was unlucky.
The only thing that was hard now, was that he and Lance shared a dorm. He couldn't just lock himself in his room when they shared one.
