Psychopath and Sociopath

Psychopath: 1% of the general population                          Sociopath: 4% of the general population

                  What do they have in common:

-Both suffer from an antisocial personality disorder 

-Both lack empathy 

-Both demonstrate complete disregard for social rules and behaviour standards 

-Both fail to feel any remorse or guilt 

-Both are violent 

                                                                             What is the difference:      

  Psychopath: 

The origin of illness is likely to be in his or her innate condition. Minnesota study of twins rares apart showed that psychopathy is 60% heritable. He or she is simply that way.

A psychopath is likely to have to be educated and have a good career. They have controlled behaviour, are highly manipulative, they are also completely unable to form personal attachments.  they also take calculated risks, they participate in fraud schemes and minimize evidence. 

    Sociopath:

The origin of his or her illness is likely to be from his or her environment and upbringing. research shows that there is a significant association between early institutionalisation and sociopathic behaviour in later life. 

They are most likely to be uneducated and unable to keep a steady job. They will have erratic behaviour and strong bursts of anger and rage. They are impulsive and spontaneous. they also might form one attachment to an individual or group. Crimes done by these people are usually spontaneous hence the reason for leaving evidence and is usually sloppy.
