Summer's POV

We swim around until the early hours of the morning. "You're so lame," I laugh looking at him. "You are too," He laughs looking at me. I roll my eyes at him. "How are you and Jaxson going?" He asks, his voice strained at the mention of my boyfriend. "We're good," I smile softly. "I was afraid of that," He sighs. I look at him confused. "I just had this big idea that... It was stupid," He sighs getting out of the pool for the first time since he came in. "Mark tell me," I whisper looking at him, grabbing his hand and making him look at me. "Bree," He groans. "Summer," I whisper, letting go of his hand. I get out of the pool as well and wrap my towel around my waist. "Sum-" He starts but I cut him off. "No. You don't get to do this to me," I say slamming the door to the patio that was outside. The door opens again and I groan, rolling my eyes. "Summer," He sighs. "Mark," I say looking at him. "I'm sorry," He sighs. "No," I groan walking towards the grass that led to the back alley. "Summer," He says again. I ignore him and make my way to the alley. A stray dog runs up to me and wags its tail. "Hi," I smile bending down and petting it. I looked at the collar, Cooper.  "Hey, Cooper do you have an owner?" I ask looking at him. He was a small golden retriever.  Mark walks over to the dog. "Summer," He whispers. "I'm going to his owner. You want to talk to me talk to me then!" I groan picking up the dog and carrying him to the address of the house. "I'm sorry," He says catching up with me. I nod. "Summer," He groans. I turn to him and roll my eyes dramatically. He takes the dog out of my hands and wraps his arms around my waist. I look at him surprised. He slams his lips on mine. I don't do anything, I don't move away and I don't kiss back. He pulls away and sighs. "I'm..." He says but can't form the words. "No, I'm not sorry. I've missed that. I've missed your kisses. I've missed you. I want you," He says his arms around my waist. I couldn't form a sentence so just whispered, "Jaxson." "Break up with him," He whispers, his forehead resting on mine, his eyes staring at my lips. "Can't," I sigh backing away from him. "Summer!" He groans. I just walk away from him. I follow the walk down the street since the house was close. I got to the house to see the door was open. "Hello?" I call walking in. There was a guy in a black mask, with a gun in his hand. He holds the gun out to me. "Who are you?" He asks his voice shaking. "My name is Summer. I'm just returning their dog," I say, terrified. "Put the dog down, and go!" He says. I put the dog down slowly. "FASTER!" He yells cocking the gun. I stand up straight and stand there. "GO!" He yells. Before I could take a step there was a gunshot, and then I was lying on the ground in pain, blood gushing out of my shoulder.
