I have a family of four. My mom Ivy, my sister Alysa, me, my dog Bailey and my da-. Well, a family of three, but four if you count my dog. But. . . well, not five. It's not weird, other people have lost their dad, just like me.
Anyway, my mom kept going on and telling me about how amazing he was. "He was amazing honey," she said," he would always make me smile. I remember the first time that I met him, he was walking down our High School hallway joking around with his friends. He always had a twinkle in his eyes and a mischievous smile pasted onto his goofy face. He always made me smile.
"So. . . how did you get to know him? Tell me more!" I ordered.
"Ok, ok I will, so anyway like I was about to say at lunch that day he came up to me and started asking me weird questions like,' How old are you?', and 'Do you have any siblings?' He kept sitting next to me more and I kept learning about him and he kept learning about me. We eventually came close friends and then grew up and got married. We then had a family together with a daughter named Alysa and a dog, but no son," My mom teased. I started cracking up and so did she. We eventually stopped laughing and then she started to get me dinner while I unpacked everything.
"Honey dinners ready!" My mom called from downstairs.
"Ok," I yelled back.
When I got downstairs my dinner was on the table ready for me to eat, but my mom was sitting on the opposite side of the table with papers in front of her. "So what's up with the papers?" I asked.
"Good news," she said.
"How can papers be good news?" I asked.
"Um, I don't know?" My mom said with sarcasm and laughing "It's the doctor were goi-"
My brain started going fuzzy and I was loosing my conscience.
"Hey, psss, hey come here!"
"Who. . . said that?"
"No explaining just follow, uggghhhh, never mind I'll just drag you along!"
The figure who was speaking got clearer, it was a girl with leaves stuck in her ragged brown hair and a thorn necklace around her neck, she had a drape of leaves from the shirt she was wearing with regular brown pants and wooden sandals. "My names Lani , I'm going to need your help and your going to need mine."
"Wh-" I stuttered.
"Shhhh," she said. when she turned around I saw a huge scar on her arm. "We need to get out of this place it's not safe," she said giving me a gesture to follow. I followed her until we came to a little nook we were surrounded by big, bushy, jungle leaves. She continued on until we stopped at a giant jungle leaf "Shhh," she said as she pushed back the jungle leaf to reveal . . .
"Spike, Spike, SPIKE!" My mom screamed.
"Wh- what were am I?" I screamed in confusion.
"You're home, with me," My mom said trying to calm me down.
"Was I in another, you know, moment?" I asked her.
"Yes honey, um, why don't you get some sleep, you've had a hard day," my mom said with worry in her voice.
I walked up the stairs with no protest. When I got to my room I collapsed on my bed laying there, but not falling asleep, only thinking about Lani. . .
