Chapter 4 ~ The Best We Could Do

Hey, guys! Happy weekend (at least where I am...)! Sorry I'm late again, ehehehe... 

It's been a crazy hectic week!

"Sorry, Gaara-kun." Rin knelt and hugged the crying boy. "It was the best I could do." 

"I don't... wanna... leave..." Gaara sobbed and held on to the teen. "Don't leave!" 

Minato watched the two, feeling entirely guilty about the verdict he had given. 

"You have to go back to Suna... or else everyone will start fighting for you." 

The redhead sniffed and hugged the kunoichi's neck even tighter. 

"B-But... I..." 

"They won't hurt you," Rin assured gently. "I won't let them. Ever." 

Gaara looked up, eyes misty and lips trembling. 

The medic smiled. 

"Watch, Gaara-kun. Summoning Jutsu!" 

Minato stepped back in shock as smoke dissipated to reveal a beautiful, silver wolf. 

"Gaara-kun, meet Hikaru-chan. He'll be keeping you safe in Suna until you learn to control your powers. I'll come visit sometimes, too! How's that?"

"S-So how do you have a summoning contract with... the legendary wolves...?" 

"Sensei! For the millionth time, it's a secret!" Rin chided fondly. She put a finger to her lips. "I can't tell." 

"B-But~!" the blond whined. "I-It's... unheard of, you know!" 

Rin shook her head, laughing. 

"You're just like a little kid, sensei." 

Minato pouted. 

"I'll be even more immature if you don't tell me." 

"Save it. You could maybe save your cuteness and puppy eyes for Kushina-san, yeah? She deserves a date after putting up with your missions and work and everything." 

"Hey! Don't- My love life- You can't-" 

Raised eyebrows and chocolate orbs met his cerulean ones skeptically. 

"I think teens are the ones with the best ideas on how to have a good date. Ever thought about a glowing garden with a 'keep out' sign? Those are good, especially if they're custom-constructed." 

"Goodness! I would never!" 

"You should, sensei." 

"Where can I even find something like that?" 

"...That's true. Definitely not in Konoha." 

"Hmph. Any better ideas, senpai?" Rin glared at him, and the Yondaime Hokage grinned playfully back. 

"You want ideas? I'll give you ideas; just you wait." 

He began to regret teasing her when the girl's eyes began to gleam evilly. 

"Medics aren't supposed to be so naughty!" 

"Talk to the hand, sensei. Talk to the hand."
