Chapter 5 ~ An Old Adversary

"Our target today is apparently a highly dangerous A-rank shinobi, so please, let's be careful," Minato warned quietly. "I also have reports saying the Akatsuki are here as well." 

"Well, dangerous indeed," Rin commented lightly. 

Beside her, ever so slightly, one corner of Obito's mouth lifted upwards. 

"Rin, you're taking this too lightly. They're the Akatsuki," Kakashi said. "They're S-class criminals." 

"I know. Don't worry, 'kay? It's not biggie; we dealt with some just a while ago." 

"That wasn't 'dealing with them'! That was 'setting off an explosive and making them disappear'!" the Hatake retaliated heatedly. 

"Well, hey, we got rid of them, didn't we?" Obito asked. "Who cares how we do it?" 

In the corner of everyone's eyes, they glimpsed it. 

Blood ran cold. 

Some people's, however, only grew hot. 

Red and black clouds.

Hidan sighed dejectedly. Beside him, Kakuzu counted his money in near-dead boredom. 

"Missions nowadays suck," the Jashinist complained. 

"I know, so shut up." 

"F*ck you!" He waved his rude flag in Kakuzu's face.  

"Drop that middle-" 

"Whoa!" Hidan toppled backwards as someone jumped on him. 

Both boys stared incredulously at their attacker. 

They couldn't believe their luck. 

"Rin!"

Rin grinned, releasing her choke on Hidan's neck. 

"Hey!" she greeted. 

"I can't believe it! No. F*cking. Way!" the teen trilled. "It's Rin!" 

Kakuzu sighed. 

"Are your eyes also a part of the nonfunctioning parts of your beefcake?" 

"Shut the hell up, b*st*rd!" 

"Hey, you two, quit with it!" She took them both by the ears and teleported to a more deserted place. 

"Oww," Kakuzu moaned. "Dammit, Rin." 

"Look, I only have a few minutes. Obito's covering for me right now, and he won't be able to do it for long." 

"Aww," Hidan whined. "You're not staying?" 

"Maybe I can later. First, though, I gotta clear the mission." 

"Who's gonna die today?" the money-lover asked. 

"No one - not unless she's that dangerous. Are you also hunting an 'unknown female with dark hair who is a poison expert'?" 

Her two friends laughed. 

"That's all you got? Pathetic," Kakuzu said. 

"Well, we got ourselves a name so... can't exactly compare." 

"Hmm. If we end up fighting the same woman, I'll battle you guys for giving the winning blow to her." 

"Ha. You got it - we ain't losin', ya hear?!"
