I woke up and looked at the clock; 8:30pm. I guess i have a lot of time on my hands.
I went to my closet and tried to look for something nice to wear to the masquerade ball. I looked through some suits that í had gotten from relatives and other shit. I wanted to go in something fancy but casual, assuming that makes the most remote of senses. I kept looking through my closet and came across two amazing outfits.
Outfit number one was a backwards tuxedo with a white jacket, white pants, black
bow-tie, and a red undershirt.
Outfit number two was a nice silk suit with a dark, blood red and black slant design overcoat, which had a tail, black pants, a dark red vest, a white shirt, and a black tie.
I couldn't decide which one to wear. I wanted to look really nice but í also wanted to look as not standout-ish as possible. So i went for the red one.
I laid it out on my bed and started looking at it. Then í went over to the mirror and looked at myself. I thought about how much I've changed. I gained weight and made muscle from that weight, cut my hair, and I'm just an all out happier person. Then i took of my glasses. I realized how different i look without them. My eyes had a glassy-transparent look to them, and it made them look like they had little gold specks in them when light hit them just right. No ones ever seen me without my glasses. I used to be so self-conscious. I still am, but since im going to a masquerade ball i guess i can make an exception.
I looked at the clock again. 9:00pm. Damn. Was i really looking in the mirror for that long? I took the outfit that i was wearing and a towel and my hygiene stuff (toothpaste, Q Tips, acne cleanser, etc.) and ran down to the bathroom. My grandmother stopped me on my way down.
"Leo, you aren't leaving this house without eating." she said.
"Pero Abuela, i have to be there by ten and i havent even taken a shower yet. And you know how long i take." i replied.
"Unless you're gonna eat at the party then you better sit down and eat." she said with an authoritative attitude.
"Abuela, please..."
"Are you gonna eat at the party?" she asked
"...probably not." i said head hanging.
"So then sit dow..."
"I'm sleeping over at Mitchell's." i cut her off.
"Are his parents home?" she asked skeptically.
"Of course. He wouldn't be going unless his parents said he could." i said. Hes too good of a kid to sneak out.
"Well, i always did like that boy..." she started. "Okay, you can go. But you better not get into any bullshit, alright?"
"I promise." i told her reassuringly. I ran up to her and gave her a hug and then ran Indo the bathroom. Then i finally got ready for the party.
~~~~45 minutes later~~~~
I looked in the mirror one last time and compared myself to my past self. I was absolutely amazed to see how far ive come. I looked at the clock one final time. 9:50pm...
